Meet Cubby, a joyful little survivor with a huge heart and the kind of spirit you never forget. He may still be young, but there is something so special about him already—something bright, brave, and full of life. Cubby throws himself into happiness with his whole heart, whether that means belly rubs, squeaky toys, long walks, or declaring all-out war on the sprinkler as if it personally offended him.
But behind that playful, silly charm is a story that makes him all the more extraordinary.
When Cubby was only a few weeks old, he survived a devastating lawn mower accident. It’s the kind of beginning that could have broken a little dog’s spirit, but not Cubby’s. Thanks to incredible veterinary care and his own determination, he healed, recovered, and never lost his love for life. Today, he has no long-term complications from the accident. His scars aren’t a reminder of what he lost—they’re a reminder of everything he overcame.
Cubby is an active, fun-loving boy who would thrive with a family that enjoys keeping him busy. He loves being part of the action and wants nothing more than to spend time with his people.
There is just one quirky habit his future family should know about: Cubby has a tendency to eat other dogs’ poop if it’s left in the yard. Because of this, he’ll need a home where everyone is committed to staying on “poop patrol” and scooping the yard after doggy potty breaks. As long as the yard is kept clean, this is an easy habit to manage—but it’s one many adopters shy away from, making it harder for this wonderful boy to find the home he deserves.
