About Me I'm a handsome, distinguished gentleman who has left my wild youth behind. These days, I prefer sedate walks and loving pets over exhausting adventures. I used to chase squirrels. Now I prefer to watch squirrels. From a window. While lying down. Honestly, I've matured. I'm also a bit of a conversationalist. I communicate through grunts, snuffs, and my signature whisper bark. I save my full bark for important matters-like suspicious delivery trucks and squirrels who fail to respect my personal boundaries. I'm not really a furniture guy, but give me a good window and I'll happily keep an eye on the neighborhood. I don't hand out kisses to just anyone, either. I like to keep those for special occasions and special people. My Green Flags ? I know sit. I can wait patiently for food. I walk politely on a leash. I can hang out in an unfenced yard without causing trouble. I've met a cat and respectfully ignored her. I've met a toddler, gave her a quick lick, and then calmly watched her play. I'm an excellent napper. I have strong opinions about delivery trucks. What I'm Looking For Someone who appreciates a big, mellow guy with a little personality. I can get along with other dogs, although I prefer to take things slow. I do well with my female dog friend, but my relationship with my male roommate has developed into something of a competition for who gets the most human attention. I'm not saying I'm jealous... I'm just saying I believe I deserve my fair share of the pets. A meet-and-greet would be recommended if you already have a dog. Or, if you'd rather have me all to yourself, I'm perfectly happy being your one-and-only gentleman. Dealbreakers ? People who expect me to chase squirrels. Suspicious delivery trucks. Sharing the spotlight with another handsome gentleman. Anyone who thinks 80 pounds is too much dog. (I prefer to think of it as 80 pounds of love and personality.) My Ideal Date ? A nice leisurely walk. Some quality window watching. A few loving pets. Maybe a snack. Then a long nap while I contemplate the important questions in life-such as why squirrels continue to trespass. ? Meet Cash - the sweetest senior gentleman! ? At around 8 years young, Cash is looking for a soft place to land and a family to call his own. And after spending his first week in foster care, we're learning that this handsome boy is pretty darn easy to love. ? Cash is a super chill, affectionate guy whose favorite place is wherever his person happens to be. Sitting on the couch? He'll happily settle at your feet. Heading to the bathroom? Don't worry - Cash will make sure you don't have to make the trip alone. ? He loves pets, snuggles, and simply being close to his people. He's currently living with three female dogs and gets along beautifully with them. Cash could be perfectly happy sharing his home with another dog, but we think he'd be equally thrilled to be your one-and-only favorite boy. And this senior gentleman has some seriously good manners! Cash is wonderful on leash and doesn't pull, rides well in the car, and has even proven himself to be a great boating buddy. ?? He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and goes into it willingly. Cash does have some separation anxiety when his people leave. He may fuss, pant, or drool for a while before eventually settling down to sleep. His foster family is working with him to help him feel more comfortable and secure when he's home without his humans. Because of this, a family willing to be patient while he adjusts and learns that his people always come back would be a wonderful fit. Cash can also be a bit of a neighborhood watch captain. ? He likes to announce when people are walking past or approaching the house, but once introductions are made, the tough-guy act disappears. He loves the people he meets and is more than happy to collect some attention and affection. What really stands out about Cash, though, is just how sweet and easygoing he is. He isn't asking for much - a comfy bed, some leisurely walks, plenty of love, and most importantly, a person to belong to. Senior dogs have a special way of quietly finding their place in your heart. Josie is a sweet, energetic 1-year-old Weimaraner with tons of personality and a playful spirit. She is a smart girl who loves the water, car rides, and spending time with both people and other dogs. Josie is continuing to learn what structure and boundaries mean. In her foster home, she enjoys chasing and playing with her foster dog siblings and is learning how to settle into a routine. Once she gets comfortable and calms down, Josie loves nothing more than cuddling with her people. She enjoys walks and is making great progress with her leash skills and training. Like many young Weimaraners, Josie has plenty of energy and loves to jump and play, so she would do best with a family who is patient, active, and committed to continuing her training. Because of her exuberance, children over the age of 10 would be the best fit. Josie has never been around cats, so we believe she would be happiest in a cat-free home. Josie is looking for a family who will give her the structure, patience, exercise, attention, and continued training she needs to thrive. She loves playing with toys, running around the backyard with her foster dog siblings, and being right by her people. When the day winds down, Meadow is happiest cuddling up in bed with her humans. This sweet girl has good manners and is a busy body who loves to stay active. She also has a high prey drive, so her future family will need to be mindful of that and continue providing the training, structure, and guidance she needs. Because Meadow can become overwhelmed by too much activity, a home with children 10 years and older would be the best fit for her. She would thrive with a family who understands her energy level and is committed to helping her continue to grow into the wonderful companion she is meant to be. Rio is a beautiful 5 year old Weimaraner mix - with a Lab we believe. Rio was likely dumped by his owner as he was found in the forest of a nature preserve with Santorini (see Sandy's bio). Both dogs were likely in survival mode for several months. They're remarkably resilient dogs currently being fostered in Grand Haven, Michigan. They do not have to be adopted together - but if you're in the market for a pair of dogs...Sandy & Rio would be ever so grateful.
