Story
Mister Simba is our resident handsome hunk! He is big, muscular and has the most beautiful eyes. He still has lots of puppy in him and is strong. He will need a strong family that is willing to put the time and energy into bringing out his full potential! He is crate trained, has learned sit and is working on leash manners. Would prefer a home with kids 16 yrs old and up as he is so doofy and doesnt realize his size! Simba is weird with woman and would do best in an active male household that would love to do training with him. He's stubborn but equally loving. He's been thru hell and he just doesn't know up from down. We love this dog and have a long history with him that is NOT his fault. We want to place him into a home that will do right by him and love him forever. He deserves that. A woman nearly starved and killed him. But his foster mom saved him. He's looking for safety and trust. Please be that person for him? Apply at www.brasscityrescue.org

Story
Are you looking for a handsome and distinguished pup? Well, look no further than Stanley! Stanley is a well-trained 9-year-old pooch who weighs in at 55 pounds. He was found as a stray with an old eye injury that doesn't slow him down one bit. In addition to being extremely good looking, Stanley is also quite smart! He’s completed a board and train program, with lifetime follow-ups available to support his training. Stanley thrives with structure and will do best with an owner who can maintain that environment. An adventurous spirit, Stanley loves car rides and is a wonderful companion for outdoor activities, especially long hikes where he shines on a leash. He’s even gone camping before. If you’re looking for an adventure buddy, Stan is your man! Stanley gets along with other dogs, though he usually prefers females to males. He has also lived with cats before.  Stanley is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped, so he's ready to move in if you'll have him! If you're interested in meeting Stanley, visit EHRDOGS.ORG and submit an application. Don't forget to ask for STANLEY MARTIN STEELE! July 14, 2026, 3:21 am

Story
Meet Blaze — a big, beautiful boy with an even bigger heart. Blaze is an 88-pound Weimaraner–American Bulldog mix who was surrendered simply for being “too big.” At just over a year old, he’s still very much a youngster, and he’s carrying around a whole lot of love he hasn’t quite figured out how to share yet. Here at the shelter, Blaze is scared and unsure, and it’s clear the world hasn’t given him much guidance so far. But the moment he feels safe, he leans in with a sweetness that makes you want to wrap your arms around him and tell him everything’s going to be okay. He hasn’t been socialized with other dogs, so he’s hoping for a home where he can be your one and only while he learns about life at a gentler pace. Blaze may be hefty, but inside he’s just a sensitive soul looking for someone who will see past his size and notice the worried, hopeful pup underneath. With patience, kindness, and a steady routine, this boy is going to shine. If you’re ready to help a scared but wonderfully loving dog find his confidence—and his person—Blaze will be waiting with soft eyes and a heart full of potential. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you. Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability.
