No aversions yet to anything—he has been on digestive health Royal Canin dry and wet food, and has also enjoyed boiled/baked unseasoned chicken Any cute personality traits or quirky anecdotes to enhance their Petfinder profile? He has shown himself to be a BIG fan of being around his humans and pet pack (dogs and cats). When you’re his human, he will stay close to your side. He loves exploring and sniffing out his environment, but when he gets tired, you can pick him up and sit him beside you on the couch and he will doze off. He has also loved being around food—something he didn’t have for most of his life—and has been standing on his hind legs to check everything out…and to reach things if he can! Charlie’s Story: We’ll never know all of Charlie’s story, but for his foster humans, the story began with Foster Mom Nicole driving home from work and seeing three gangly, emaciated puppies, wandering alone at an abandoned RV parking spot. Two of the puppies never let Nicole get close to them, but the third puppy did, mostly because he was too weak to run—Nicole named him Charlie and brought him back to her house. A wonderful local veterinary office, Bay Breeze Animal Clinic, treated Charlie, diagnosing him with hookworm, coccidia, and malnutrition—the office dated him nine months old, weighing just 19 pounds. His future was not bright. Charlie never stopped believing in people though. As sick and weak as he was, he always wagged his tail for his foster family and watched them with his beautiful light eyes. By the time of his two-week follow-up, Charlie had gained eight pounds, was standing and walking faster by the day, interacting peacefully with other dogs and cats, and was feeling well enough to act like a puppy again. Charlie has had a harder life than he ever should have had. What he needs is a loving household where human parent/s can help him get stronger, learn how to play, finish his potty training, and give him the love and attention he’s missed for nearly his entire life. He's a little cautious with some new people, but considering what he's been through, the fact that he warms to them as quickly as he does is impressive. It is so evident that Charlie is a bright, sweet, loving puppy—he is an absolute treasure.
