Story
Oliver, aka Ollie is a 2 year old pup with an incredible resilience and an even bigger heart. When Ollie first arrived at the shelter, he was severely underweight at only 19 pounds after being confined to a kennel for an extended period of time without proper care. Thanks to our dedicated staff, Ollie has made a remarkable recovery and now weighs over 30 pounds, with his beautiful black, brown, and white coat returning to its natural colors.Ollie is still working on maintaining a healthy diet due to early malnutrition. He currently eats 3.5–4 cups of food per day, split into three meals, and treats should be limited as too much can upset his stomach. The good news is that Ollie is very food motivated, which has helped him quickly learn his name, “sit,” and occasionally “lay down” using positive, meal-based training. Ollie is kennel trained and mostly potty trained, although accidents do still happen so a patient owner and consistent routine is ideal.Ollie does wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and children, and has been tested with kids ranging from ages 2 to 13. Now that he has regained his strength and energy, he’s learning how to properly play with larger dogs and has found his voice—he has a sassy bark and will happily let you know when he wants attention! He loves playing fetch with tennis balls, though he’s still learning how to drop them on command. Ollie has shown no possessive behaviors with food or toys and allows people to handle them without issue. Ollie is a loving, playful, and affectionate dog who has already overcome so much. He’s ready for a forever home that will offer patience, routine, and the love he’s always deserved.
