Story
Rosie May is an 8-year-old, 30-pound Welsh Terrier with a heart as big as her beautiful voice. When she first came to CAMO Rescue as a shelter transfer, she was shut down and unsure of the world. But with love, patience, and time, Rosie May has found her voice—literally! She’s now a sweet, gentle girl who isn’t shy about expressing her feelings. Don’t let her calm demeanor fool you—Rosie May gets the zoomies and loves a good run in the yard. Once she’s had her fun, she’s more than happy to lay her head on you for pets and snuggles. She’s also quite the songbird, happily “singing” to let you know exactly what’s on her mind. Rosie May is fully potty trained, crate trained, walks wonderfully on a leash, and is treat-motivated, meaning she’s more than capable of learning new tricks and commands. She would thrive best as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for herself. Rosie May is heartworm positive but has already received her ProHeart-12 injection and is currently undergoing treatment. She'll need a recheck in eight months to ensure she's on the path to full recovery. Adoption fee is: $300 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Meet Mac – A Mighty Little Pup We’d like to share the story of a very special pup named Mac (short for Makenzie). Born the runt of her litter with severe limb deformities, Mac was unable to walk and initially given a poor prognosis. But Mac’s story didn’t end there. Thanks to Scout’s Honor Rescue, she was evaluated by the team at Houston Veterinary Specialists, who believed that with corrective surgery on her back legs, she could have a real chance at a happy, active life. Mac proved them right. With her trademark spunk and resilience, she recovered beautifully from major orthopedic surgery. Today, she spends her days chasing lizards in her foster’s backyard and soaking up naps in warm sunbeams. While Mac’s surgery was a great success, her early deformities mean she is more susceptible to injury and already has some arthritis. She will require a bit more advanced veterinary care as she ages. She also may eventually need corrective surgery on her front left leg. That means she really needs an amazing pet parent, someone who will give her the love, care, and medical support she deserves (and fortunately for us, we know quite a few amazing pet parents)! Mac gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs, and children, she truly loves everyone she meets. Pierce is a good looking boy straight from the streets of Houston. He is a wonderful, funny boy when he trusts you but trust is not something that comes easy for him. He has obviously been let down by humans his entire life. He is currently living with our trainer, who is helping him understand that humans can be good and trusted. Pierce is just about 2 years old, 60 pounds and maybe a schnauzer/husky mix. He needs an experienced handler who can continue to help him build h is confidence and trust in humans. Pierce is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Pierce is currently heartworm positive but we will continue to cover treating him through the slow kill method.
