Story
Pierce is a good looking boy straight from the streets of Houston. He is a wonderful, funny boy when he trusts you but trust is not something that comes easy for him. He has obviously been let down by humans his entire life. He is currently living with our trainer, who is helping him understand that humans can be good and trusted. Pierce is just about 2 years old, 60 pounds and maybe a schnauzer/husky mix. He needs an experienced handler who can continue to help him build h is confidence and trust in humans. Pierce is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Pierce is currently heartworm positive but we will continue to cover treating him through the slow kill method. If you are interested in fostering or adopting this handsome guy, just fill out the appropriate application found at scoutshonor.org.     Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs March 19, 2024, 9:25 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Bite History! (minor)Nibbles is a GREAT dog! He loves to be the BOSS DOG and is protective of his humans. He devours and loves his squeaky toys and is a lovely addition.  This little nugget did get a bit 'defensive' and bit.  We don't know what the circumstances were surrounding the bite.  The shelter reports it was  'minor' bite.  We will tell you he presented as defensive and unfriendly at our vet.  We were able to administer an anti-anxiety drug to help him deal with the stress of being poked/prodded.  He was NOT happy about it, but we were able to get him vetted! We are working on helping him to learn trust.  His adopter will need to be prepared to continue this type of counter-conditioning to help him become less reactive  and more trusting and open to love. We have been able to crate him, and he does well in a crate.  He's a great little dog who will get along with females, but is male selective.    He can (and will) climb a baby gate.  He's really very sweet and loves to be loved.  He will roll over and show you his belly.   He dislikes strangers and his family will need to give him some time to decompress and learn to trust.   PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS DOG IF YOU HAVE OR PLAN TO GET ANOTHER MALE DOG  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 25, 2024, 9:12 pm
