Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie ISO fresh start and love! FREEDOM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name: Freedom       Best Guess for Breed:  Wheaten terrier mix   Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of October 2025       SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  25 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Watch this video of Freedom showing off his silly side!   Special adoption considerations:   Freedom recently had a subcutaneous mast cell tumor successfully removed and will begin weekly chemotherapy treatments in mid-January for 8 weeks to prevent the cancer from returning. These treatments are generously sponsored by the 15/10 Foundation and the sponsorship will transfer with him if adopted. His adopter will need to commit to completing his treatment plan. We’re happy to discuss his medical history and treatment details with interested adopters. Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Freedom would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. About Freedom: Freedom is a deeply affectionate, people-loving dog who thrives on connection, routine, and adventure—and when the day winds down, he’s happiest curled up next to you on the couch.   Household Manners Freedom has excellent house manners and is a dream indoors: No accidents in the house Crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night in a crate in the bedroom Does best with a consistent daily routine Personality Freedom is equal parts cuddle bug and playful athlete: Very affectionate and loves to snuggle Friendly and approachable—he’s done great with dogs, people, and children at adoption events Active and playful; he’d love an active household or a playful dog friend Enjoys long walks, fetch, and outdoor fun (with dog park visits after chemo) He also has the cutest habit of gently grabbing blankets or shoes when he’s excited—no chewing or destruction, and he’s easily redirected to a toy. He’s still polishing his leash manners and occasionally grabs the leash, but he’s learning quickly.  Addressing Separation Anxiety Freedom’s separation anxiety is currently managed with: Two structured 30+ minute walks daily High-value chews when left alone Minimal Trazodone as needed His anxiety mainly shows up as vocalization, so he might not be a good fit for apartments or condos where barking could impact neighbors. With patience, gradual alone-time training, and continued structure, he has great potential to keep improving. Freedom is a loving, loyal dog who wants nothing more than to be close to his people. With the right home, he’ll repay your patience and care with endless affection, joyful energy, and unwavering companionship. What My Foster Says About Me:  Freedom is a lovable boy with a heart full of affection! This sweet boy absolutely adores his people and is always ready to show his loyalty with tail wags and cuddles. Freedom thrives on companionship and is looking for an adopter who can help him work through his separation anxiety. With patience, understanding, and some consistent training, Freedom will flourish into the perfect, devoted companion. He’s ready to bond deeply with his new family and bring endless joy to their lives—he just needs a little extra support to feel confident when left alone.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Shadow was a rescue that my husbands former boss adopted, after a while his boss gave shadow to us as we were experienced pet owners. As we had shadow we have moved several times and have had a baby. When we had our baby we noticed shadow was becoming more aggressive and jealous. We tried to work with him, showing we loved them equally, and tried to train him again but he become more stubborn and jealous, leading to him not listening anymore with house rules. After some careful thoughts and tears we decided it would be better to re-home him, as we had gotten tired of his aggressiveness and cleaning up after him. We believe he would be better suited for a home with no children, or a home with older kids and a family that wants to be smothered in his love. Shadow always loves a good backyard and squirrels, along with walks and loves of cuddles.

Story
Shadow was a rescue that my husbands former boss had adopted, after his boss decided to give the dog to us as we are both experienced pet owners. He has been living with us for about 4-5 years now, which makes him 7 years old in April, and in that time we have moved several times and had a baby. As we grew our family we saw subtle changes in Shadow and he started to become more jealous and aggressive. We thought we could work with him to help him learn we loved everyone equally and that we were still going to pay attention to him as well, but he just kept having jealous burst and would nip at our daughter when too close. After a while we decided he needed a new home as we were becoming tired of his aggressiveness to her. I believe he needs a childfree home or a family with older kids and parents who can be smothered in love and affection from Shadow. He loves a good backyard and other animals/toys to chase, along with lots of pets and cuddles.
