Story
Sweet, cuddly, and goofy, Kira is a charming girl who can't wait to steal your heart! Kira is estimated to be 9 months old and is a wiggly girl who loves with her whole heart. She bonds quickly with people and is the type of dog who always wants to be touching you when on the couch together. She adores cuddle time and is happiest when she can be included in all things fun. Kira appears to be mostly full-grown and is a petite girl weighing only 29lbs. Kira came to us from a Northern California shelter after she was found as a stray and wasn't claimed by a family. Due to overcrowding at the shelter, she was at risk of euthanasia, and we were happy to be able to step in and save her. She definitely acts like she has been in a home before, and she has settled in well to life in her foster home. Kira is such an affectionate girl who will woo you by lovingly looking into your eyes and making herself comfy in your lap. While she can be a little suspicious when she meets new people, she is quick to warm up and then will be your BFF for life. She is a playful girl who loves to play fetch and tug. She is also a big fan of zooming around the yard and being goofy. She would love an active family who can keep up with her puppy energy. She recently went on a camping trip with his foster parents and did great out in the wilderness. She seems to already know stuff like sit and paw, and is overall a well-mannered girl at home (although she may try to sneakily chew on your shoes). Kira doesn't seem to have been well socialized with being out and about, and is working with a trainer on her reactivity. She needs a family who can continue her training to help her thrive. Kira loved hanging out with other playful dogs at the shelter, but has been more than happy to be an only dog in her foster home. Kira needs a kitty-free home. Kira has done great in a home with teenagers and could be a wonderful addition to a home with kids over 12 years old. Kira is house and crate trained. She is content to hang out in her crate during the work day and loves seeing her daily dog walkers for midday playtime and cuddles. She does well sleeping through the night in her crate, but would have no problem joining you in bed if you let her. Kira is such an amazing girl who deserves a family just as great as her. If she sounds like the lovebug you need in your life, submit an application today!   Kira's adoption fee is $300.   Apply to adopt here!   https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations before adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. September 22, 2025, 2:41 pm

Story
Otis is about 2 1/2 years old, he is a whippet mix. Otis is the absolute sweetest boy in the entire world, his personality resembles a whippet perfectly. He gets zoomies and then wants to sleep and snuggle the rest of the day. Otis is the perfect work from home buddy that will curl up on your lap and snore until it's time for dinner. He is good with dogs with a slow introduction, he comes off quite strong with new dogs since he wants to play immediately but not all dogs enjoy this. He doesnt bark very often and will snooze in his kennel while youre gone, as long as its a quiet comfy spot. He really enjoys beds, pillows and will tuck himself into blankets. He does have a strong prey drive so cats may not be the best fit. He is a sensitive boy and will need a patient, kind family. He would also not do well in a dog park situation and is leash reactive to other animals, we've been working with him and he is a quick learner. Also being a whippet he does enjoy his sweaters.

Story
Jase is an adorable 9-year-old, 10 pound, Chihuahua mix. He looks like a miniature Basenji. He has beautiful golden eyes and a ring of white fur around his neck. This handsome little guy was found in an orchard with five other dogs when he was barely a year old. He has spent years 2 through 9 here at the sanctuary. Jase does not allow us to pick him up or hold him. Once he gets to know you, he is quite happy to stand on you to get a treat. He loves treats, especially chicken and other people food, he will eat almost any vegetable. Jase is very happy with pack life. He needs a home with another dog or two that he can follow around. He goes outside to potty with the command “Go Potty”. He will use the doggie door. He sleeps happily in a crate (although we think he would adjust to sleeping in your bed) Jase is a house dog that needs outside privileges in a secure yard. He loves to snuggle with other dogs. Can he grace your home with his happy self? He will greet you joyously with a happy dance. He will make you smile. His presence is a delight. He is neutered, currently vaccinated and microchipped. He just needs to be appreciated and loved from afar. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5.
