Finding a Peaceful Retirement for Bambi 🐾 Bambi is a 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who has been a loyal companion for a decade. Due to a difficult financial situation, I am moving to a much smaller place. Between this move and raising two toddlers who take up all my time, I can no longer give Bambi the quality of life he deserves. It breaks my heart, but I need to find him a proper retirement home. At 10 years old, Bambi is a senior dog with a unique and independent personality: He is not overly affectionate, but he loves human company. He shows love by simply being in the same room, keeping you company while you work or relax. He can be vocal and bark when he hears noises, which is typical for his breed and age. He needs a quiet environment. The noise and high energy of small children overwhelm him. Bambi doesn't need long walks, just a peaceful corner and a calm environment. He would be the perfect companion for a senior, a quiet couple, or someone who wants a loyal presence.

Now safe, this sweet little gentleman is ready to find a loving forever home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by his family. Social with People Yuki is an incredibly friendly and affectionate boy who loves people. He happily approaches both familiar people and complete strangers, leaning in for pets and affection. He is comfortable with both men and women and can easily be picked up by placing an arm under his belly. He is so trusting that he may even show his belly to someone he has just met! Social with Dogs Yuki will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but he isn’t particularly interested in playing or interacting beyond that. He generally does well with dogs around his size or smaller. High-energy dogs can be a little overwhelming for him, so he prefers calm canine company. Even when another dog tries to provoke him, Yuki would rather walk away than engage. Overall, he simply isn’t very interested in other dogs and is perfectly content doing his own thing. Cats When Yuki sees cats during walks, he shows very little interest and remains focused on his person instead. A formal cat test can also be arranged if needed. Energy Level Yuki has a low energy level and is naturally calm and easygoing. He enjoys relaxing and resting throughout the day and is content at home as long as he gets his regular, leisurely walks. He’s especially gentle with young children and is comfortable being picked up with arms under his belly. Once he warms up, he’ll even show you his belly! He’s curious about other dogs and will approach them to say hello, though he doesn’t typically engage in play. Gentle with cats, not much interest in them. Meet Charlotte • Name: Charlotte • Age: 7–8 years • Sex: Spayed Female • Breed: Terrier Mix • Color: Brown • Weight: 9.5 kg • Height (shoulder): 37 cm Rescue Story Charlotte was rescued from a municipal shelter in January 2021. After her rescue, she spent about four years in a private shelter. During her time at the shelter, Charlotte was bitten by another dog. Following that experience, she became very sensitive to handling and touch, which made finding an adoptive home more challenging. In November, Charlotte joined the AKR center, where she began desensitization and touch training. At first, even putting on a collar or harness caused her to scream, but with consistent training and patience, she has made meaningful progress. Now, she may occasionally whine slightly, but her reaction has improved significantly. She is sensitive to her fur being pulled, so she is currently kept with a short coat for her comfort. ‍‍‍ Socialization with People Charlotte can be a little shy at first, but she is very food-motivated. With treats and gentle, positive reinforcement, she warms up quickly and becomes comfortable with touch. She has not been tested with children under 13. While she can be picked up once she trusts you, this may be difficult for strangers at first. As she bonds, she becomes affectionate—even offering her belly for rubs. Socialization with Dogs Charlotte is friendly and social with other dogs. She approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and invite play. She can be a bit vocal when playing, which may overwhelm more timid dogs. However, she does very well with dogs that match her energy level, regardless of size. She would thrive either with a compatible canine companion or as the only dog in the home. Cats Not yet tested, but can be assessed upon request. Energy Level Moderate energy. She enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterward. Walks Charlotte may look around curiously during walks, but she follows her handler well and does not pull on the leash. DARWIN is currently special-needs as he recovers from an abusive home, and so far he is doing well with rehab, but we still have a way to go. Darwin is a wonderful, affectionate, and loving boy. Although he likes playing fetch and chasing his ball, he equally enjoys being a couch potato and cuddling and sleeping. He is often quiet, and unlike many of the higher-energy Jack Russells. He is friendly and sweet but terribly fearful, and is an indoor dog since he has white, very fine hair, can sunburn easily, and also freeze in the winter. Darwin is housetrained, walks well on his leash, obeys simple commands, and is friendly with other friendly dogs, both female and male, and smaller dogs. Darwin is about 8 years old and is neutered. Darwin’s parents split up and neither one of them was able to keep Darwin. Darwin is a smooth-coat Jack Russell with perhaps a tiny touch of Corgi.
