Story
Are you an active, adventurous person looking for a loyal sidekick to share life’s adventures with? Do you love hiking trails, going for runs, exploring the outdoors and burning some energy? After all the adventure looking to spend some time in the backyard, or curling up on the couch with someone to cuddle with?
If so, Milo just might be your guy! Milo is a 3.5 yr old, neutered male, Jack Russell mix!
Milo is also looking for someone special – someone patient, understanding and committed to helping him continue becoming the best dog he can be. Like other dogs who haven’t always had an easy path, Milo struggles with resource guarding and can become protective of people, objects, or spaces he values. The future adopter will need to be aware of these behaviors and willing to continue working with him through training, structure and positive reinforcement. Milo can be unsure when someone is reaching down to pet him, or at times men in general. He would do best in lower-traffic household with limited visitors. Due to his guarding behaviors and fears Milo needs a home with no children.
Milo has a high prey drive so cautiously watching open doors as he will bolt if given the chance. The bunnies are very tempting. He would also not do well with small critters in the house, including cats.
Milo is very smart and thrives when his mind and body is kept busy with exercise, enrichment, and plenty of stimulation. He is highly food and treat motivated and absolutely loves learning – especially when snacks are involved. His foster mom could easily see him excelling in agility, trick training, or other dog sports if someone is willing to put in time and help him build those skills. He has the drive and intelligence to do amazing things and truly seems to enjoy having a job and using his brain.
Milo currently lives with other dogs and enjoys playing with his foster chihuahua buddy and coexists with the others. Milo loves to sleep under the covers and will INSIST until he pushes his way under. Milo is a great little guy with so much potential! He will for sure end up as someone’s best friend!
