Story
Eddie is a 2-year-old Black Lab who is sweet, strong, and incredibly loyal! Weighing in at around 55 pounds, he’ll stick by your side like it’s his full-time job. This young pup is house-trained and crate-trained. He does well in his crate for extended periods, settling in after a few minutes. Eddie loves standing on his hind legs to watch the world through the window or gently grabbing your hand with his paw just to keep you close. He loves chew toys, tug-of-war, and most of all, your attention. He usually has at least two walks a day and some active play like tug-of-war or zoomies around the yard. His leash manners are still a work in progress, so his future family should give some extra training to help guide him.He would prefer a home where someone is around often. Loud noises and unfamiliar people can spook him, but with patience and routine, he’s learning to feel more confident. Eddie is not able to live in a home with other dogs because he becomes very overstimulated when he sees them. He hasn’t lived with cats or children.Eddie is looking for a home to grow up in and give love in return! Are you ready for Eddie? If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Story
If happiness had four legs and a constantly wagging tail, it would be Milo! This 5-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer is a joyful, energetic, affectionate puppy who believes everyone he meets is a best friend waiting to happen. At around 25 pounds, Milo is still growing and is expected to be a medium-sized dog. He has a big personality, a bright mind, and enough energy to keep life exciting!Milo is a social butterfly who loves people of all ages, including kids! He enjoys running and playing with children and is happy to soak up all the attention they give him. He also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves wrestling with his canine foster sibling. Milo has also done well with cats. He is curious about them but respectful, happily interacting with his playful feline friend while giving his less interested cat roommate plenty of space. This smart boy is already learning his name, sit, and come, and he is eager to please, even if he is still working on perfecting his skills. He loves puppy puzzles, running, playing, and, of course, snuggling! Milo is an enthusiastic cuddler who may wrap his paws around your neck for a hug. Rub his ears, and you might be treated to the funniest, loudest little moans of appreciation. His affectionate, sometimes clingy nature means he wants to be part of whatever you're doing.Milo is a true German Shorthaired Pointer, which means he needs an active home ready to keep both his body and mind busy. A daily walk won't cut it for this energetic guy! He would love opportunities to run, play, explore, and tackle enrichment activities. Without enough to do, Milo is more than happy to invent his own entertainment, and his ideas may not always align with yours. Continued training, consistency, and plenty of exercise will help him grow into the wonderful adult dog he is meant to be.Milo is still working on house-training and occasionally has accidents, but he is making progress. He can sleep in his crate overnight for about eight hours, although he isn't a fan of being kenneled and may bark or whine when first put inside. He also struggles with being alone and may vocalize when separated from his people, even if he can hear them nearby. An apartment or home with shared walls would not be a good fit. Milo would do best with adopters who are home often and can help him gradually build confidence with alone time. One important thing to know about Milo is that he is a flight risk. Having been found as a stray, he is still very eager to dash through open doors, and he has managed to escape from his foster home twice. He is incredibly quick! A securely fenced yard is required, along with careful door management and a commitment to keeping him safely contained. Although his intelligence may make future off-leash training a possibility, he is not ready for that freedom now.Milo is looking for an active, involved family who wants a fun-loving companion to include in life's adventures. He has so much love to give, a wonderful personality, and a clever little mind that is always working. If you're ready for puppy antics, outdoor adventures, enthusiastic cuddles, and a best friend whose tail never stops wagging, Milo might just be your perfect match! If you are interested in Milo, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Story
This 3-year-old Pitbull/Pointer mix is an energetic, inquisitive, and affectionate pup! At about 54 lbs, Cosma "sings" a sweet little "OOOOoooOOO" instead of barking when she's extra happy to see you.Cosma is house-trained, crate-trained, and thriving with a solid potty routine of about four outings a day. She's a quick learner who already knows how to sit and roll over and is working on polishing her manners (mostly keeping those paws off the counter). She will require a securely fenced yard or close supervision outdoors due to safety concerns. She has a calm to moderate energy level, especially around people and in familiar environments. She enjoys a 30-minute walk in the morning and another in the evening, spending most of her time sniffing and taking in the world around her. Before her morning walk or whenever she's especially excited, she often gets the zoomies and can jump nearly 4 feet straight into the air! After her walks, she's happy to curl up for a nap, chew on a hard toy, or stretch into her own version of doggy yoga. Belly rubs are one of her favorite things.Cosma loves staying busy -- whether she's people-watching through the window, squeaking a toy, carefully hiding a treasured cheese bone, or enjoying her favorite freeze-dried meat treats. On walks, she sometimes points, lifts a paw, and tilts her head as she watches birds, squirrels, or other interesting sights. She may stare at or run toward other dogs or small animals, but these behaviors appear to stem from uncertainty rather than aggression. She can be a little unsure when meeting new people, but with a few treats and some patience, she warms up nicely. She previously lived with a male dog but has since become dog-selective and worked with a trainer. Cosma will require a dog- and cat-free home at this time. She has also met children and slowly warmed up to them with proper introductions.Cosma enjoys being close to her people and may have mild separation anxiety, often choosing to sit beside you or even on your lap if you'll let her. She sometimes naps in her crate, and when left home alone in it, she settles quietly without barking or whining.Overall, Cosma is a healthy dog. She occasionally gets minor scratches on her legs from enthusiastic zoomies and rolling in the grass and may benefit from routine anal gland checks. She also experiences occasional seasonal sneezing and itchiness that are easily managed with Benadryl as needed. One of Cosma's most charming features is her adorable asymmetrical face. She has white eyelashes on the right side, black eyelashes on the left, a slightly smaller right ear, and even a unique paw-shaped birthmark on her right inner thigh.Lightly vocal and quick to alert to unfamiliar noises, Cosma can also be wary of people wearing bulky winter clothing. Overall, she's a loving, expressive, food-motivated companion with a heart of gold. If you're looking for a smart, loyal best friend with a cosmic name and a one-of-a-kind personality, Cosma might just be your perfect match. If you are interested in Cosma, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
