Arriving on 2/28 to New York City, Chayito is in need of a foster OR foster-to-adopt home! The Basics: Identity: 1-year-old Female Xolo Mix Size: 25 lbs (The perfect apartment size!) Personality: Friendly with both dogs and humans. Health: Fully vaccinated (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella), spayed, microchipped, and tested for vector-borne illnesses. Currently on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Special Care Requirements Skin & Coat: Due to malnutrition and irritation, Nati is currently mostly hairless. Her new family must have a turtleneck and puffer coat ready for her arrival—NYC winters are no joke for a hairless pup! Training: Nati is a "project dog" in progress. Adopters/fosters should be prepared to start house-training and leash-training from scratch upon arrival. Medical Note: While she is vetted, her skin will require continued TLC to heal. Requirements & Priority Primary Location: Priority is given to residents within the 5 boroughs of NYC. Commuter Policy: Applicants outside the 5 boroughs are welcome but must have reliable transportation to NYC for: Initial transport pick-up on 2/28. Follow-up veterinary appointments. Planned adoption events. How to Help Since we have limited photos and info, Nati needs a hero to take a chance on her! If you can welcome her home on Saturday, 2/28, please submit your application immediately. About the Lady: Name: Viejita (Spanish for "elderly woman") Stats: 9-year-old Senior Female | 22 lbs Breed: Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless) Mix Social: Friendly with people and other dogs. The "Hairless in NYC" Warning Viejita is mostly hairless. Coming from sunny Mexico to a New York winter is a major shock to the system. Her new family must have a turtleneck and puffer coat ready for her arrival—NYC winters are no joke for a hairless pup! Important Logistics & Expectations Training: Like many international rescues, Viejita will need patience and a refresher on house-training and leash-walking starting on Day 1. Limited Info: We have no further photos or history at this time. We are looking for a hero who is ready to welcome her based on the "mystery" of rescue!
