Story
Hello! Rylee is a 4 (almost 5) year old Yorkiepoo, born March 22nd. She has a great balance of energy and chill—she enjoys playing and being social, but she’s also very happy curling up and napping most of the day. She absolutely loves people and does well with children, especially older kids who are a bit calmer. Rylee generally gets along well with other animals. She can be noisy when she plays, which may sound intense at first, but that’s just her playful personality. I’m looking for a home where someone has more time to give her, ideally someone who works from home. Rylee does have separation anxiety and may bark when left alone, especially in a new environment, so she would thrive with consistent companionship and patience. She is mostly potty trained when kept on a routine and does best when taken outside 3–4 times a day. If potty pads are available indoors, she will use them if needed. She’s a very sweet, loving dog who just needs more attention than I can currently provide.

Meet Buffy 💕 Buffy is a 3-year-old, 18-lb female who proves that a rough start doesn’t define the rest of your story. Buffy came to Safe Haven from a very bad situation in Texas. Her coat was badly matted and dirty, but once she landed in a loving foster home, everything changed. After a much-needed spa day—voilà!—Buffy transformed into the cute little diva she was always meant to be. Buffy can be all bark at first, especially when meeting new people. She just needs a little time to feel safe. Once she warms up, though, she’ll completely steal your heart. Under that initial bravado is a total sweetheart who wants nothing more than to be your bestie. She’s a spayed poodle/terrier mix (as best we can tell), up to date on vaccines, and finishing up her heartworm treatment. Buffy has been learning the ropes in her foster home and has made great progress with potty training—she’s got it down, though heavy rain or super cold weather can still be a bit intimidating. Buffy is the perfect mix of cozy and playful. She’d happily snuggle with you every night while you binge your favorite shows, but she also enjoys toys, bones, and walks (and she’s getting better at those every day!). Bonus: she absolutely rocks adorable t-shirts, sweaters, and jackets. She likes most dogs, especially ones who enjoy playing. Cats are an unknown, but she’s open to giving it a try with the right introduction. Buffy is looking for a patient, loving person or family who understands that trust takes time—and that the reward is a loyal, affectionate companion who will adore you endlessly. Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.
