Story
Jenny - for adoption in mid-February after her spay. She is Heartworm positive.... If interested please complete the online adoption application on our website at http://www.floridayorkierescue.com We are located in Palm City, Martin County. We DO NOT have a public facility. For additional information, please read below: Jenny was left abandoned at a Construction site. Thankfully someone found her in time. She was pitifully thin and certainly did not look like these photos I just posted. She is now a fatty patty at 8 lbs. and really needs to lose a pound. She grabs everyone else's food and scarfs it down like a vacuum cleaner but when you tell her to be gentle, she acts like a little lady. Jenny has had all of her vaccinations and has had a dental cleaning. She is definitely not a senior, probably a young dog but we just will never know for sure. Her teeth look great. Unfortunately as we ran our routine blood work it was discovered she was Heartworm positive. She has been on a few common medications which she is being weaned off of now but the next step is an aggressive cocktail of meds I do not want her to have. It is just too dangerous for such a little dog plus she would have to be kenneled or confined for months during the process. She does not do well in a kennel as she also has separation anxiety. I have had other small dogs over the years that have been heartworm positive and I gave them heartworm pills every single month; eventually they were heartworm negative. It takes a while but it works and it is far safer than the alternative. This is just my opinion. Veterinarians would probably not agree. I do not want to keep her for a year and then find her a home. It is not fair to Jenny. She is friendly with other dogs but needs a new home where the owner is home most days. She will literally follow you everywhere. She loves to sleep in our bed and when she arrived she was TOTALLY HOUSEBROKEN. Due to the many pee wee pads we have here for our seniors she is now peeing on them as well but I know if you let her out often she will get back into the routine of being housebroken. So... recap.... she is heartworm positive. She has separation anxiety. She will bark if she is not by your side always. She is totally vaccinated. She has had a dental cleaning. She is microchipped. She is being spayed in mid February. Story
Our very special Pet of the Week is Angie! She is a senior dog, estimated to be between 14 and 16 years old. When we were called, we were told she was a six-year-old Yorkie. What we found instead was a very old, very frail dog who had clearly been neglected for many years. Angie arrived emaciated, heartworm positive, and incredibly weak.Despite everything she has endured, Angie is unbelievably sweet. She is gentle, quiet, and just wants to be near people.Unfortunately, she is too fragile to undergo heartworm treatment. At this stage, our focus is no longer on recovery, but on comfort, love and dignity. We are urgently searching for a hospice foster or hospice adopter - someone with a calm home and a big heart who can give Angie a soft place to rest, affection and peace for the remainder of her life. This is not about medical care or fixing what has been done, but about kindness and companionship at the end of her journey.Angies story is a sad one, but we are hoping it can end with love.We believe there is someone who may feel called to open their home and heart to her, even if only for a short time.If you are interested in being Angies hospice foster, or would like more information, please contact The Farm Dog Rescue.

Story
Meet Milla!Milla is a 12½-year-old Yorkie with the softest soul. She is part of our “seniors helping seniors” program. She came to us after her beloved owner passed away, and she is one of the last two of five dogs we were able to take in - for that, we are incredibly grateful. Thank you, thank you to everyone who helped make that possible.Milla is calm, loving, and incredibly gentle. She listens well and prefers to follow her persons lead - if you head outside, she will happily follow along rather than rushing ahead. She is a quiet companion who just wants to be near her people.Milla does need potty breaks more frequently, and she also does great with potty pads indoors if they are laid out.Milla would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by kindness, routine, and affection. She is not demanding - just grateful, sweet, and full of quiet love.If you are looking to open your heart to a senior dog who truly deserves comfort and compassion, Milla is ready to follow you home. 💛Good with dogs & cats

Story
Rooster is a happy, healthy, friendly little boy who loves to socialize and play with his ‘babies’ (stuffed animals). He is approximately 6 years old and 6 pounds, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Only the best for this boy! He is a one of a kind! Must be willing to put him first and give him a loving, FOREVER home. Adoption fee is $400 Sorry, no small children Must live in Brevard County or within a 45 minute drive because I require 2 home checks and do them personally, to make sure it’s a good fit!
