Story
This little spitfire is ready to find her forever home! Frankie is a 2 year old Yorkie that has a condition called megaesophagus, but she doesn’t let that slow her down. She has a big, spicy personality that commands a room. Frankie is spunky, she is bossy, and she has no idea she is a wee 7 pounds…typical small dog!   We know so, so many people would love to have a little companion like her and we want to make sure Frankie's forever family is the best possible fit as she is a special girl that needs specific, diligent care and daily medications to keep her healthy (sildenafil 10 mg and metoclopramide 2.5 mg, both twice a day, estimated cost is under $20/month). Luckily we know the care routine that works best for her and have it listed below to help a potential adopter determine if her needs are feasible for their family and home. Frankie came to us at 3 months old when her owners felt they could no longer provide the care she needed with her condition. She was born with megaesophagus (her esophagus is enlarged, making it hard for food to pass easily to her stomach), so he has a special diet and feeding regimen, but is well managed when strictly followed. Frankie is handfed slightly watered down canned food in a chair and has to sit up for 25 minutes after eating to avoid regurgitation. Total time for her meals, start to finish, is about 40 minutes. During her upright time, she enjoys broth ice cubes because she cannot have water. Her favorite treats are Gerber Puffs, and they don’t cause issues because they dissolve easily. She also requires lifetime meds, 2 prescription and one over the counter, to help with her condition. Additionally, she has to wear a neck donut at all times. If she doesn’t wear this, her saliva gets stuck in her esophagus and causes her to cough and regurgitate. The greatest risk with this condition and regurgitation is aspiration pneumonia so her upright time is of utmost importance, as well as her not being allowed to eat or drink things she shouldn’t. Frankie lives with foster dogs of all sizes and gives everyone a run for their money. She can be a bit spicy with other dogs, but nothing more than a typical small dog with a big personality. However, she will need a laid back and understanding fur-sibling if she has any. She would do best in a home with dogs her size. She pays no attention to the cats in her foster home. Due to her spicy personality and food restrictions, Frankie is best in a home without children. Frankie loves running outside, going for car rides, and the being the star of the show. She does need a little monitoring with exercise because when she is super excited for an extended period of time, she tends to choke on excess saliva. While megaesophagus can sound like a scary condition, when managed properly, these dogs live very fulfilled lives. Frankie is a very special little lady and we want nothing more than to find her very special family to call her own. Due to her special needs and wanting to be able to support a successful transition to a forever home, only local (Oklahoma) applications are being considered. If you think Frankie might be a good fit for your home, you can send inquiries to our director of adoptions at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application! Frankie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped! Her adoption fee is $250.

Story
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Click here to apply for the pet Ginger is a 10-month-old blend of Yorkshire Terrier and Miniature Pinscher, which gives her a spunky personality in a petite, 10.0 lbs blonde package. Still young and eager to figure out the world, Ginger comes ready to join a family that will help her build confidence as she grows. She’s already spayed and has shown she gets along well with other dogs and children, making her a social fit in a variety of households. There was a time Ginger needed a little extra care to get back on track, and now she’s ready for a new start after coming from another agency. She’s a Leo—a sun sign known for charisma and cheer—and it shows in her energy. Ginger’s looking for a family ready to welcome the warmth she brings into their home. What are you waiting for? Apply today! Notes from Ginger's Goomer: Ginger was an absolute joy to work with today! She did phenomenal for her grooming appointment. She may be young, but she already has great table manners and handled everything like a pro! We had just a tiny bit of wiggling during the leg work, but there was no biting and nothing excessive at all. I am extremely proud of how well she did. For her groom today, I used a #4 blade on the body, a ½-inch guard comb on the legs, blended everything with thinning shears, and lightly neatened up her head for a soft, balanced look. For her adoptive family, I recommend daily brushing with a slicker brush followed by a comb to help prevent tangles and matting. To keep her coat healthy and looking its best, she should be groomed every 4–8 weeks. We can’t wait to see her again! What are you waiting for? Apply today! Click here to apply for the pet

Story
Toto is an 8-year-old neutered male terrier mix with a relaxed, easygoing personality. He’s a happy little dog who always seems to be smiling and enjoys a calm environment. Because of his small bladder, Toto does need more frequent potty breaks, so he’ll do best with someone who’s able to give him regular opportunities to go outside. He gets along well with other animals and has lived peacefully with two cats and even a pet skunk. Toto is gentle and non-aggressive, but he can feel overwhelmed by very young, high-energy children. When that happens, he tends to retreat rather than react, as he’s never shown any signs of biting. He has reliable verbal recall and does well both on and off leash, making him an easy companion for relaxed walks and everyday life.
