Story
Meet Martha MayMartha May is a gentle, affectionate senior whose world changed completely just a few weeks ago. She was surrendered to a high-kill shelter in Houston after her previous owner could no longer care for her. She arrived wearing her little coat and spent her first moments wandering the office, sniffing every corner and crying at the door, clearly confused and searching for the people she knew. Thanks to a wonderful foster, she is now safe, settled, and beginning to show just how sweet and resilient she truly is.Martha May is approximately 13 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. She loves being near her people and greets everyone as if they’re already a friend. If you lean down, she will gently nuzzle or kiss your face, and she relaxes easily when she knows you’re close by. She may be blind, but she adjusted to her foster home within just a few days and navigates her environment with confidence. She is fully potty trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and has a calm, easygoing presence. She does wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and children. Martha May spends most of her time resting, following the sound of your voice, or settling in near your feet. She is the definition of a quiet, loyal companion. Her vet noted a mild age-related heart murmur, and she’ll be starting Pimobendan to support her heart health. Her recent bloodwork looked good, and she is scheduled for a dental next week. Overall, she is in good condition for her age and is ready for a stable, loving home.Martha May is a soft-hearted, appreciative little dog who asks for very little: companionship, a warm place to rest, and someone who will cherish her. She will make a wonderful match for someone looking for a calm, gentle senior to love.To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Story
This sweet angel was abandoned because she is blind. We know, of course, that being blind doesn't change their hearts at all! Stevie still wants love, playtime, treats, and a family that will cherish her! She is a young girl with a long life ahead of her so if you are ready for a couple decades of loyalty, choose this girl!To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Story
Meet Charlie 25 TX (we've had a lot of Charlies in TX) who is 3 years old and 12.5 pounds. He is being fostered in Georgetown, TX; only Texas applicants will be considered. Oh my goodness. You need to meet Mr. Charlie. Im not sure where to start, but here it goes. Charlie came to rescue just a couple of days ago. At his young age of around 5, he has had a couple of homes, the last one only being with new owner for 3 months. He slept at night in a room by himself, was alone most of the day and the owner before that kept him in a crate all day. But you know what? None of that has kept him from being the sweetest, lovable, and most comical little clown. Charlie is a happy go lucky fella and is excited and happy about life and is exploring everything and loving everybody. Amazing as it sounds with his background he is housetrained, never marked in his foster home, and loves loves loves to be outside. He goes to the door when he wants out and any time his foster siblings go he is right with the pack. Charlie is in the process of getting his vetting and will most likely have his neuter and dental the first week in November. He would be perfect in a home with a lot of activity, older children that can get him lots of exercise and a nice fenced in back yard to run. We've barely heard him bark! He hasnt been around small children so older around 12 would be fine; he gets along with dogs, great with small dogs especially. His sibling Old English Sheep dog is good but sometimes Charlie isnt sometimes isn't sure about that. Charlie is getting his grooming soon but he is so beautiful and fluffy that he will keep his locks and just get a trim. If you think Charlie has a place in your heart and home please complete the application below

Story
Meet Maverick, an adorable 7 year old (est), 10 pound Yorkie boy being fostered in Georgetown, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Pupdate: I'm still hanging with foster Mom waiting on my forever family to come and take me home! I spend my days walking with my foster family through the neighborhood, chasing squirrels in the backyard, and napping -- dreaming about that great family that's going to come and take me home forever! I know you're out there -- foster Mom says I'm safe here while we wait but I'm really anxious to meet you! Please fill out that UYR adoption application for me!!! Hope to meet you real soon XXXXOOOO Pupdate: I'm so looking forward to my new furever home and my new family! I know you're out there looking for me! I'm the easiest little guy ever! I love to go for walks on a leash, chase squirrels in the backyard, and follow you all over the house. I get along with everyone! Big people, little people, big dogs, little dogs and even cats! Please fill out the adoption application and come get me! I'm so excited to meet you and begin my furever happy ending! XXXXOOOO -- Maverick Hello World! I am Maverick and I am soooooo happy to be part of the UYR fosters looking for my furever family! I was very scared in the shelter and didn't know if I would make it out -- I was on the list to be euthanized!!!! Foster Mom and UYR said oh no, we need to take that boy and find him a new family -- so here I am ready to find you and give you all the love and friendship you'll ever need. I've already been to the dogter, had all my shots, and had my teeth cleaned. The dogter did give Foster Mom some bad news, I have a heart murmur. Not bad enough to need medicine yet, but definitely my new family needs to know so they can let my new dogter watch it carefully and get me on medicine when it's time. I guess a heart murmur means that I'm special and have lots of room for extra love. I love to go for walks every day. I'm not the kind of guy that wants to be in your lap all the time, but I do want to be in the same room with you in my own chair next to yours. I promise to always stay by your side and only bark when there's a reason, like someone at the door or a squirrel I need to go get. Please fill out my application and come get me, I'm waiting for you. Also, while you're here, can you please donate to UYR to keep all of us off the euthanize list? It's not the kind of list we want to be on..... XXXXOOOO Maverick
