Story
Meet Stella 🐾Stella is a six-year-old, six-pound tiny queen with a big personality. She’s sweet, a little sassy, and very easy to win over with treats. She loves a cuddle when she’s in the mood and will happily curl up beside you once she decides it’s snuggle time. She enjoys toys and a spirited game of tug-of-war, but she’s also perfectly content entertaining herself. Stella is crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and is pee-pad trained. Her crate is her cozy retreat, and she currently prefers sleeping there and eating her meals in private with the door closed.Stella gets along with dogs and peacefully coexists with cats, usually paying them no mind. She’s comfortable around both men and women. She’s still working on her potty routine, so a patient adopter can help her keep building good habits as she settles in.Stella is looking for a home that will appreciate her independent streak, respect her boundaries, and give her time to feel at home. In return, this charming little queen will bring plenty of sweetness, playfulness, and personality. To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.

Story
Meet Bailey — a tiny 13-year-old senior girl, just 12 lbs of spry, sweet spirit, looking for a calm, understanding home where she can enjoy life at her own pace.Bailey came to us after her lifelong owner passed away. It was obvious just how loved she was, and now it's time to find her that same devotion in a new home.Bailey can be a little standoffish at first, but she has sweet moments where she'll come ask for attention, want help getting onto the couch or bed, or quietly follow her people around the house. She's surprisingly spry for her age! At night she gets playful zoomies and loves nothing more than a joyful play session with her favorite humans. Otherwise, she's perfectly content curled up at the end of your bed or snuggled beside you on the couch.Believe it or not, this girl LOVES the shower — she happily hops in with you and genuinely enjoys bath time, and she insists you dry her hair as well. Because she has sensitive skin and fine hair that mats easily (which can lead to skin infections if not managed), Bailey needs diligent grooming care, including regular brushing and baths, along with staying on top of flea and parasite prevention. She's received Cytopoint injections in our care and has done wonderfully on them.Bailey appears to be deaf and doesn't respond to her name or loud noises, but that doesn't slow her down one bit. She enjoys having her own space but is tolerant of other dogs and kids, and she prefers a peaceful environment where her boundaries are respected. She's mostly house trained as long as there is consistency with potty breaks. Bailey has also made it very clear that she is not a fan of the kennel and would much rather sleep cuddled up in bed beside her humans.Curious, independent, and endearingly quirky, Bailey needs someone patient and compassionate — someone who understands senior dogs and is willing to let her settle in at her own speed. In return, she offers quiet companionship, sweet moments of affection, and the occasional joyful zoomie to remind you she's still got plenty of spunk left.Based in Bryan, Texas. We offer nationwide adoptions and transport. Story
Meet Vance—the sweetest little shadow looking for a soft place to land and a family to love! 🐾💙At about 8 years old and about 8.5 pounds, Vance is an easygoing senior gentleman with absolutely no interest in being the boss of the house. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and children, happily follows the lead of the pups around him, and simply goes with the flow. His favorite thing, though, is being near his person. 🥹 Vance loves following his people from room to room and being part of whatever they’re doing. If he’s ready to come inside, he’ll give the door a little scratch—and if he decides it’s time to join you on the couch, he isn’t afraid to let you know that either!Vance came to us with a massive bladder stone and a severe urinary tract infection. He is now on urinary food, which he’ll need to remain on. He has also received a much-needed dental and has just one little tooth left! During his care, we discovered a healing jaw fracture, so he’ll need to eat wet food until it has fully healed. He may mark when entering a new environment, but he does great while wearing a belly band. Vance is also kennel trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is an incredibly loving little companion.Vance does show some resource guarding around food, so meals and treats should be given separately from other dogs. When food isn’t involved, he’s perfectly happy coexisting with his pup friends and letting them take the lead. This sweet boy could fit into so many different homes. He would be happy with children, a single person, a couple, or an older adopter looking for a devoted companion.More than anything, Vance wants someone to love, a person to follow around, and a permanent spot beside them on the couch. Could that be with you? 💙To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.

Story
Beaux is a 7 to 8-year-old Yorkie with his priorities firmly in order: play with friends, go for a ride, handle his business outside, and then report immediately for belly rubs!!And we do mean belly rubs. If Beaux had his way, this would be less of an occasional treat and more of a full-time position for his future adopter.Beaux is great with other dogs and still has a fun, playful side, making him a wonderful option for a home with canine friends. He also lets you know when he needs to go potty, which we very much appreciate from a gentleman of his age! He's a good little traveler too and does well riding in the car.At 7 to 8, Beaux has landed in that wonderful sweet spot where he's past the puppy nonsense but hasn't retired from having fun. He can play with the other dogs, hop in the car for an adventure, and then happily flip onto his back when it's time for his favorite activity.Mostly, Beaux is just an easy little guy looking for someone who will love having him around. And rub his belly.Seriously. Don't forget that part!!!!!!!Beaux is currently being fostered in Waco, Texas, but don't let distance stop you! Nationwide transport to the nearest major city is available for an additional $250.Nationwide transport available, thanks to our Flight Transport partners with SWATT Transport and that flies in cabin with Southwest AirlinesDog adoptions are $250, and if you need nationwide transport, it's an extra $250 for the flight and all materials needed.
