This is Basil (pronounced with a British accent) — a 2½-year-old cinnamon coloured male Abyssinian.
It’s incredibly hard for me to make this decision, but I’m looking for the right home for him. Basil is a sweet, gentle, and social boy who would thrive in a home where he has more companionship and stimulation than I’m currently able to give him.
Basil is a very good-natured, gentle cat. He is highly social with other cats and tends to be submissive rather than dominant. He is not a lap cat (but it does happen once in a while), though I suspect that may change as he gets older. He sleeps on the bed every night, usually curled up against my back or legs, and loves being close by. His favourite times to be affectionate are during my morning and evening routines, especially when I’m getting ready for the shower or brushing my teeth.
He is neutered, litter trained, microchipped, and fully up to date on his vaccinations. He tolerates nail trims, even if he doesn’t particularly enjoy them.
Basil is curious, clever, and food-motivated. He’ll happily sit at the kitchen table hoping for a sample of whatever I’m eating, and he enjoys small bits of cooked broccoli, chicken, eggs, and even apple. He also occasionally plays fetch with small wool or felt balls, which is very charming. That said, he is not especially good at entertaining himself and does best with interaction and engagement. Because of this, Basil’s ideal home would be with another friendly, social cat close to his age, or with someone who has plenty of time to actively engage with him.
He also has a cat exercise wheel that he uses regularly, and it will need to go with him (please contact me for details on the cost).
