Stanley's Story Stanley ("Stan the Man") The Dog Who Never Stopped Believing in People Somehow, despite everything he's been through... Stanley still believes that people are wonderful. Around here, we affectionately call him "Stan the Man," and it doesn't take long to understand why. If you've met Stanley once, you've probably already become his friend. Stanley walks through life as though he's the mayor of every town he visits. His tail is proudly carried, his head held high, and he greets each new day with quiet confidence. He has that wonderful self-assurance that makes everyone around him smile. Stanley seems convinced that the world is full of friends he simply hasn't met yet—and somehow, he's usually right. At some point before coming into rescue, Stanley's life was anything but kind. He was found abandoned, chained to a tree without food or water. His coat was crawling with fleas and ticks, and the heavy chain around his neck had rubbed away much of the hair there. Many dogs would have learned to fear people after an experience like that. Not Stanley. Instead, he chose forgiveness. The very first thing we learned about Stanley was just how trusting he is. Bath time? He stood quietly as though he'd booked himself into a luxury spa for the afternoon. We shampooed him...then shampooed him again because he was so dirty the first bath barely lathered. He didn't mind a bit. Toenails? No problem. High-velocity dryer? Bring it on. He accepted every bit of care with quiet patience, almost as if he knew someone was finally looking after him. Today, Stanley is healthy, handsome, and ready to begin the next chapter of his life. His coat continues to improve every day, and the hair around his neck is already growing back beautifully. But Stanley's greatest beauty has always been on the inside. Stanley has never met a stranger. Everyone is simply a friend he hasn't had the pleasure of greeting yet. His enthusiasm for people is genuine, wholehearted, and impossible not to love. He isn't a timid dog looking for reassurance. He's the one offering reassurance to everyone else. His cheerful confidence is contagious. Whether he's meeting a new person, greeting another dog, or heading out on a walk, he approaches life with an easy confidence that says, "Everything's going to be just fine." One thing you'll notice right away is that Stanley never takes a meal for granted. Although he's still a little underweight, that's nothing a few good meals and a loving home won't take care of. In fact, one of Stanley's favorite times of day is mealtime. He approaches every bowl with enthusiasm and gratitude, clearly appreciating every meal he's given. The remarkable part isn't that he loves to eat. It's how he eats. Despite knowing what it feels like to be hungry, Stanley is an absolute gentleman. Offer him a treat, and he'll take it from your hand with the softest mouth imaginable. There's no grabbing, no gulping, no impatience—just quiet appreciation. For a dog who once wondered where his next meal would come from, his gentle manners speak volumes about the beautiful soul he truly is. He's the kind of dog who would rather be wherever you are than anywhere else in the world. Whether you're walking through the yard, relaxing on the porch, or simply moving from one room to another, Stanley is delighted just to be included. He walks beautifully on a leash and makes every stroll feel like a happy outing with an old friend. Stanley gets along wonderfully with other dogs and genuinely enjoys their company. Cats? They're still a bit of a mystery to him. He actually seems more intimidated by them than they are by him, making for some rather amusing introductions. Although he has likely been around livestock in the past, they don't seem to interest him very much. Stanley's favorite companions have always been people. One of our favorite things about Stanley is how much he enjoys being home. On the rare occasions he managed to let himself out of his kennel, he didn't go exploring or disappear down the road. Instead... He came looking for us. That simple act says so much about who he is. Stanley isn't searching for adventure. He's searching for his people. His forever family. Before adoption, Stanley will be neutered, current on his vaccinations, microchipped, and up to date on preventative care. He has no known medical concerns other than being slightly underweight, something that good nutrition and loving care will quickly remedy. His ideal home is one where he can be a true member of the family—not a backyard dog, but a beloved companion. He wants to be included in everyday life, whether that's joining you on walks, riding along on errands, greeting friends with his trademark confidence, or simply relaxing at your feet after a long day. Stanley has simple dreams. A family to call his own. A soft bed at the end of the day. Good meals shared with people he loves. A gentle hand on his head. And the promise that he'll never again wonder whether someone is coming back for him. Stanley's past may have been heartbreaking, but you would never know it by watching him today. Neglect never stole his confidence, his joyful spirit, or his remarkable manners. If anything, it makes the dog he is today even more extraordinary. At Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue, we believe every dog deserves to be judged by who they are today—not by the circumstances that brought them to us. Stanley is living proof that kindness can heal, that forgiveness is real, and that love truly does change lives. We can't rewrite his past, but together we can give him the future he has always deserved. If you're looking for a dog who will fill your home with laughter, confidence, unwavering loyalty, and enough personality to keep you smiling every single day, Stan the Man is ready to meet you. All he'll ask in return is what every great dog deserves: A family who will love him for the rest of his life.

Levi is a very loyal and affectionate gentle giant. Unusual for his breed, he is very good with young children, other dogs, and never barks incessantly. He is house trained, and happy to spend his time indoors or outdoors. He will keep any skunk or racoon out of your backyard for certain! He has made a wonderful guard dog and family pet, everyone in the neighborhood knows and loves Levi. We are very sad to see him go, but unfortunately we own chickens and due to his instincts he cannot be around them.

Monk loves his people and is very devoted to them. He does have stranger fear. The combination of his devoted behavior and fear of strangers makes him a great property guardian dog or personal protector. He is not a livestock guardian. Monk loves other dogs and plays beautifully with them.

Story
Rosalie "Rosie"'s Story Rosalie The Queen Has Arrived... and She's Looking for Her Castle Some dogs quietly slip into a room. Rosalie makes an entrance. She has opinions. She has confidence. She has places to go, people to supervise, and absolutely no doubt that she is the most important member of the family. And honestly... She's probably right. Around here we lovingly refer to Rosalie as a bit of a diva, but don't let that fool you. Underneath all that confidence is one of the most loyal, devoted hearts you'll ever find. Rosalie loves her people with her whole heart. If you're looking for a quiet little wallflower, keep scrolling. But if you've ever dreamed of sharing your home with a dog who makes you laugh every single day, who greets life with enthusiasm, and who has enough personality for three dogs, you've just met your match. Yes, Rosalie is about nine years old. Now forget that number. Watch her on a walk, and you'll swear someone accidentally wrote the wrong birthday on her paperwork. Clip on a leash and be ready to go, because Rosalie is all business. She heads down the trail with confidence, purpose, and enough enthusiasm to make dogs half her age wonder where she's getting all that energy. She doesn't dawdle, and she certainly doesn't act like she got the memo that she's supposed to be slowing down. Chronologically? Nine. At heart? Closer to eighteen months. Rosalie still believes life is an adventure waiting to happen. One of our favorite things about Rosalie is that she knows exactly who she is. She's confident. She's fearless. She's delightfully opinionated. And she carries herself with the quiet dignity of a queen who expects excellent customer service. She also happens to be incredibly affectionate with the people she loves. Rosalie especially enjoys the company of men and forms deep, devoted bonds with her family. Once you're part of her inner circle, you'll have a faithful companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side. She does well with respectful children and absolutely adores cats, which surprises many people when they first meet this confident Great Pyrenees girl. Rosalie prefers to be the only dog in her home. She enjoys having her family all to herself, and quite honestly, she's earned that privilege. Some dogs are happiest sharing the spotlight. Rosalie prefers center stage. And she absolutely owns it. She's also an excellent watchdog. Calm, confident, and naturally protective, Rosalie takes her role as guardian seriously without being unnecessarily reactive. She pays attention, makes good decisions, and wants nothing more than to keep her family safe. Several years ago, Rosalie found what everyone hoped would be her forever home. She was deeply loved. Then tragedy struck. Her adopter became terminally ill with brain cancer, and through no fault of anyone involved, Rosalie found herself back in rescue. She didn't fail. Her family didn't fail. Life simply changed. Now we're looking for one more forever home—one where Rosalie can once again be someone's constant companion, loyal protector, best friend, and beloved princess. If you've ever passed over an older dog because you were afraid your time together might be shorter, we'd encourage you to look at Rosalie a little differently. What matters isn't how many birthdays she's celebrated. What matters is how much life she still has to give. And Rosalie has plenty. She'll make you laugh. She'll keep you moving. She'll watch over your home. She'll love you with everything she has. Rosalie is healthy, spayed, current on her vaccinations, and ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a family who will appreciate everything that makes her extraordinary. At Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue, we've learned something after decades of placing dogs. Sometimes the older dogs become the once-in-a-lifetime dogs. They already know who they are. They know how to love. They know what home means. Rosalie isn't looking for someone to rescue her. She's looking for someone who will recognize the incredible gift standing right in front of them. The Queen has arrived. Now all she needs is her castle.

Story
LEOPOLD's Story Leopold Life Is More Fun When You Dance to Your Own Music. Some dogs are graceful. Some dogs are dignified. And then there's Leopold. If someone turned on a little music while he was walking across the yard, you might swear he was performing for an audience. He doesn't simply walk through life—he prances, dances, bounces, and invents his own choreography along the way. More than one person has laughed and said he looks like a little Hackney pony showing off in a circus ring. Sometimes we joke that Leopold missed his calling. He probably should have been in the circus because he has a way of turning even an ordinary walk into pure entertainment. Leopold has never met a moment he couldn't make just a little more interesting. He has an expressive face, unforgettable antics, and a personality that's impossible to overlook. He'll make you smile, then laugh out loud, and before you know it, you'll be wondering how you ever lived without him. He's delightfully quirky. Wonderfully unique. Completely original. And we wouldn't change a single thing. Leopold does have some neurological quirks that make his movements a little different from most dogs. They don't bother him one bit, and they certainly don't slow him down. As far as Leopold is concerned, life is meant to be enjoyed, and he approaches each day with contagious enthusiasm and joyful confidence. His happy little "dance" has become one of the things everyone loves most about him. Leopold's story didn't begin with kindness. When he came into our rescue from the shelter, he was carrying the deep emotional scars of a dog who had experienced severe trauma. He arrived terrified, overwhelmed, and struggling with profound fear. Trusting people wasn't easy, and simply navigating the world felt frightening. Watching him during those first days was heartbreaking, compounded by being critically ill. Watching him recover has been inspiring. Day by day, gentle voice by gentle voice, patient hand by patient hand, Leopold slowly began to realize that not every person would hurt him. He discovered that kindness could be trusted, that routines brought comfort, and that love could be given without fear. The frightened dog who once wondered if the world was safe has become a joyful little character with an enormous heart and an unmistakable zest for life. That doesn't mean he has forgotten everything. Because of his past, Leopold will do best in a calm, predictable home where life isn't hectic or chaotic. A quieter environment allows him to relax and continue building on the confidence he has worked so hard to gain. For that reason, we believe he'll be happiest in an adult home or one with older, respectful family members rather than young children. Leopold also prefers to be the only dog in the household. He enjoys having his people all to himself, and that arrangement allows him to feel secure and thrive. Cats? He absolutely loves them. His gentle, respectful nature with cats surprises many people and is just another one of the many things that makes Leopold so special. He's affectionate. He's funny. He's endlessly entertaining. And yes... he's just a little bit goofy. He's the kind of dog who makes you laugh without even trying. The kind who brightens an ordinary Tuesday simply by being himself. The kind who reminds us that perfection isn't nearly as interesting as personality. Leopold doesn't need someone searching for the "perfect" dog. He needs someone looking for the perfect friend. Someone who smiles at the unexpected. Someone who appreciates individuality. Someone who understands that life's greatest treasures often come in wonderfully unconventional packages. Leopold is healthy, beautiful, current on his veterinary care, and ready to begin the next chapter of his life with someone who will love him exactly as he is. At Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue, we've learned that some of the dogs who seem a little different become the ones who leave the biggest footprints on our hearts. Leopold is one of those dogs. He'll make you laugh. He'll surprise you. He'll keep you entertained. Most of all, he'll remind you every single day that the qualities that make us different are often the very qualities that make us unforgettable. If you've been waiting for a one-of-a-kind companion with a huge heart, an unforgettable personality, and enough charm to brighten every day, Leopold may be exactly the dog you've been searching for. After all... Life is a whole lot more fun when you dance to your own music.
