Mango & Momma: A Bond Like No Other... with a heartbreaking story
In late July, Momma (formerly Laverne) and Mango (formerly Shirley), a bonded pair of 6 month old Great Pyrenees girls, found their happily ever after with a loving couple. Their mom was home with them every day and she was their whole world, and they were hers. Tragically, in late October, their young mom unexpectedly passed away in her sleep. Their dad, devastated by the loss and working 12-hour days, was faced with an impossible decision. Wanting only the very best for the dogs they loved so deeply, he made the heartbreaking choice to return these former GRRAND pups to our care.
In just a few short days, Momma and Mango have experienced two devastating losses and now, their dad has entrusted GRRAND with one final act of love: finding a family who will cherish them together and give them the life they deserve.
Meet Mango - Mango is playful, affectionate, and full of personality. Mango also has hearing loss and relies heavily on Momma for guidance and reassurance. She looks to her big sister for cues about where to go and what to do. Momma is her confidence, her comfort, and her emotional support.
Meet Momma - True to her name, Momma is sweet, nurturing, and protective. She adores her little sister and takes her role as Mango's guide seriously. Momma recently underwent surgery to correct bilateral luxating patellas and is recovering beautifully.
Like all young puppies, both girls are still learning. They will need a family willing to continue working with them on leash manners and help them master potty training. They are making progress and, with consistency, patience, and love, they will get there. They are wonderful dogs who simply need the opportunity to keep learning and growing.
Both girls must remain together! They get along well with other dogs, chickens and horses too. (they are not cat tested but given their ease at being around other animals it would likely not be an issue) These cuties are loving and gentle companions and they deserve and need a family willing to open their hearts to both of them. Their dad's greatest wish is simple: to know that Momma and Mango will once again be loved, cherished, and safe and remain together.

**** Puppies are a lot of work, and if you are interested in one of these puppies and have children, you should check out GRRAND policies page before you read further… In a nutshell, GRRAND policies stipulate a few important things that may stop you from applying
A: GRRAND will NOT place a puppy under the age of 6 months with families with children under 6 yrs old
B: Any applicant with children under the age of 16, will require a home with direct access to a securely fenced yard… so this means no apartments or condos
Apartments and condos can also be tricky for adult only households, as puppies can be whiny and loud, and may make too much noise for the neighbors as well

As with all puppies, these kiddos will need a home where someone is home most of the time as they will need to be fed regularly, and let to go outside consistently and constantly ALL DAY LONG so potty training can be a breeze. They will be looking for homes with fenced in yards and families with LOTS of time and patience to socialize and work with a puppy so they can grow up to be good dogs! Exercise and direction are a must for these little ones as a tired puppy is a good puppy!! They have boundless amounts of playful energy and need a constant outlet for it! They just eat, pee, poop, play and repeat ALL DAY!!! It is a lot of fun, but it is a lot of work, and if you don't have time for all of that, a small puppy may not be for you!
Along with that wonderful puppy breath, comes those razor sharp puppy teeth too, so families must understand there needs to be constant supervision as children need to learn to respect an animal and puppies need to learn boundaries.
