Story
I got Nanuq up in the woods near Yacolt, WA. I have had him for 5 years. I took Nanuq everywhere with me. Around people, hiking, thousand acre dog park, etc…. When Nanuq turned 5 he just got really protective. He has bitten twice thinking I was in danger. Therefore I cannot take him anywhere to run him. I’ve been paying to run him daily on private property. This is why someone with property would be perfect for him. He also has to have Prescription dog food. Now at 68 I have a couple health problems that require frequent hospitalizations. I am not i.n a hurry to have Nanuq leave. I just want him to have a loving home. Nanuq. Plays with friendly dogs but he has to be introduced. Nanuq also needs to be introduced to people, then they will be fine.Nanuq is a very loving loyal, laid back dog. He just likes to be with you but is fine alone for long spurts. It says Akbash but I believe he is a Central Asian Shepherd dog. Highly intelligent. Very emotionally intelligent.

**All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** ***Accepting applications, will be ready to go home after I have healed from my neuter, after 7/21/2026*** Hello my name is Klein, I am between 2-3yrs old, soon to be neutered male, Anatolian Shepherd Mix, 59 pounds. I was a stray and arrived with Calvin, so the team doesn't have any information from before. What they have learned is I am so sweet, eager to learn, easily trainable (I have learned sit, stay, leave-it and kennel), I love to go for walks, I am learning to walk on a leash. I like other dogs, but I have I have only had playdates with Calvin, as we came in together. The team quickly fell in love with me too, I look like a puppy, but I am not, I love to get cuddles, be with humans, get brushed, I am just a really cool dog. My adoption fee is $250

Story
Maya is a sweet dog that is more of a farm dog than a livestock guardian dog (which is why we got her). She's not hurt any livestock or people, but she likes to chase goats which doesn't really work for us. She really loves people and seems comfortable with seeing people come and go. She will alert, but hasn't shown aggression towards people. She stays in the fencing well and other than her her chasing the goats (which they don't care for), she's been great. Not sure if she's ever been house-trained, but when kept in a smaller pen she doesn't seem to go to the bathroom where she stays. She's been outdoor only for us though. She's 3 years old. She was with cats, horses, and another dog at her previous home, but I'd be cautious with introductions with cats and dogs as she might not get along with all. Apparently she likes to be the alpha when with another dog. Hoping to find her a nice new farm. She's just not serving her purpose for us here.
