Hi, I'm Mouse - a quiet, gentle girl who's learning what it means to feel safe and loved. I came from a hoarding situation in Texas, where I likely lived outside with very little human interaction. Life was scary and uncertain back then, and while I've made progress, I'm still a very nervous dog and it may take a long time for me to be what some would consider "typical." That said, I am trying - and every bit of progress matters! Since arriving to Wisconsin, I've started to discover that people can be kind and that it feels nice to be cared for. I'm still a timid soul and can be very unsure in new situations. I don't usually come running up for attention, and I need people to move slowly, speak softly, and respect my space. I even have little routines that help me feel safe - patience and consistency are everything to me! Strangers are still very scary, and I will need ongoing support and understanding in that area. Because of my fears, a securely fenced yard is very important for me. Feeling protected helps me be brave. I'm taking life one small step at a time. Where I truly shine is with other dogs! I absolutely love wrestling and playing with my foster siblings, and I am a completely different dog when I'm around other pups! I would do best in a peaceful home with a confident dog who can show me the ropes and help me feel secure. Respectful, older children who understand that I need extra patience could also be a good fit. I may always be a sensitive girl who needs structure and understanding, but in the right home, I will form deep bonds and offer quiet loyalty and a gentle heart! If you have a soft spot for shy dogs and the patience to help me continue blooming, I promise to try my very best for you! *Mouse is currently staying in a wonderful foster home!
