Story
Sadly, I had some terrible experiences in foster since coming to Canada. The person locked me in the basement most all the time with virtually no light, no interaction. It was awful. I cried. Finally, LAL got me out of there. My new foster can only hold me for a couple weeks though, so I need an adopter pronto. My name is HATCH (Hachiko) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Akita/Spitz mixAge: 1 year oldGender: maleWeight: 17 kgCountry of origin: Middle EastHighlight(s): sweet, playful, gentle, friendly, calm Don't I look like an Orange dreamsicle? I'm just as creamy sweet too.My owner has been going through a hard time emotionally after recently losing his father and struggling with depression. I was given to him as a gift in the hope that it might help lift his spirits. Unfortunately, things did not improve and he was struggling to care for me. So, I had been taken to a boarding facility. You'll find me a bright and gentle guy. I'm also pretty calm for a puppy.I am fine with other dogs my size or larger, but for teeny dogs, my play is just too rough for them. My rescuer states I am fine with kids, see video. I have not been around any kitties. I am a really happy boy who loves everyone. Kids are a lot of fun, but bigger ones may be better, as my exuberance may knock little ones over.I have plenty of puppy energy, so would love if we could be adventurers together doing active things. Yah, I do counter surf and am a little mouthy, but I am a curious puppy yet. I just need someone patient to teach me. I am highly trainable.Surely I can adapt to most any home. I think it would be great to have an active family, as well as chilling at home afterward. I'm just a friendly, playful pup looking for my friendly, playful family. Is that you? Energy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: YesCats: unknownKids: Yes Fears: none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes:I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2423596##

THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON OR GROUP LISTED BELOW. THIS IS NOT A LOVED AT LAST DOG.  Please do NOT submit an application through LALDR. Please contact Dede at info@tofinoyoga.com  for more information or to adopt. Hi everyone, I am the charming and cuddly Cohen and here's some information about me: Name: CohenAge: 5 yearsBreed: Akita | Husky | Shepherd mixWeight: 85-90 lbs Do not let my size fool you, my heart is even bigger than I am! People refer to me as a gentle giant who loves to cuddle, relax, and lounge. I also enjoy swimming, exploring, walking the beach here in Tofino, meeting friends, and soaking up the coastal life! I am gentle with kids of all ages, but I am naturally active and high energy, so will need some supervision around toddlers to curb my enthusiam! Cuddles and affection are my love languages and I can easily become a lapdog if you'll allow it. I do however have manners and will get off the couch if asked. Being alone at home is no problem as I have been crate trained. In general I am quiet and respectful, but after all I am still a dog and will sneak a treat if it's within range.  I do well on leash with a collar or harness and love to hang out with my dog friends during my weekly dog walk. The husky and I in my foster home have become true besties and I was happy to let the Chiweenie in my previous home call the shots. Off leash, I am well socialized, reading cues from oter dogs and always chosing to avoid conflict, no problem! I do however need a bit of space when I am on leash  meeting new people and dogs. A confident handler using positive reinforcement has helped me work on that.  I am not too sure about cats though, especially a few outdoor cats I met on our walks. With patience, consistency and treats from my trainers, we have worked on my anxiety, social skills and recall. They say that I have grown so much over time and that I will make a truly special companion for a loving and stable home. Regular exercise and affection are my two most important needs. With these I will thrive in my new home! I'm looking for a home that understands my need for space during introductions and is committed to continuing the positive reinforcement that’s helped me grow. I can't wait to be your loyal companion, sharing all my love, charm, and cuddles. I am fully house trained, neutered, microchipped, and my shots are up to date (last vet visit in August). I'm a healthy, happy fellow, eager to be part of a new loving family. An adoption fee of $100 applies. THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON OR GROUP LISTED BELOW.
