Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Meet Sitka! Sitka was an incredible Mama to 13 happy, healthy puppies, and now it is finally her turn to find a forever home of her own. Sitka can be a little unsure at first, but once she builds trust, she becomes wonderfully affectionate and deeply loyal. She bonds closely with her person and would happily lean in for ear rubs, pets, and cuddles all day long. She's also a smart girl who already knows sit, shake, lay down, get your toy, and fetch, and she's currently working on stay, look, and remembering not to jump up for her enthusiastic "hug attacks."Sitka would do best as the only animal in the home and in a household without young children where she can soak up all of the attention. She has shown reactivity with barriers, and would do best in a detached home or townhouse rather than an apartment.Sitka loves to play. She enjoys fetch and is the queen of tug-of-war. She especially loves large plush and squeaky toys and even enjoys carrying her toys along on walks. This sweet girl is high energy and would thrive in a home with outdoor access, regular long walks, and plenty of one-on-one bonding time with her human. She enjoys hikes and long beach walks, though she prefers to keep her paws dry and has no interest in swimming! While Sitka is a loving companion, she can be anxious and will need patient adopters who are willing to provide reassurance, structure, and support. In return, she'll offer endless devotion and affection. Lots of things are still new for this girl, and she does get startled with loud noises, so a calm environment where she can build some confidence would be ideal.Sitka is a sweet, loyal soul just waiting for someone to give her the safe, loving home she truly deserves.Stop by the West Vancouver location to meet our beautiful Sitka! Our adoption hours are 12pm-3pm Tuesdays - Sundays (closed Mondays). While we welcome online applications, we prioritize in person meets/applications. Story
(More pics coming soon) Hi! I’m Freddy — your future adventure buddy 🤍 First things first: yes, I do make the funniest faces. I’m a 3 year old, 50 lb Husky full of curiosity, sweetness, and heart melting head tilts. For a long time, I waited in a shelter. Day after day. Watching. Hoping. Treats were my bright spots. When someone offered one, my whole world lit up and I could imagine, just for a moment, what it might feel like to belong. Finally after months of waiting, I got rescued by the wonderful folks at PawesomeBaby rescue! I’m now in a loving foster home, and I’m showing everyone what a good boy I am. I’m potty trained at my foster home, gentle and kind with people, kids, and other dogs. I live peacefully with a husky foster sister and take her corrections like a polite gentleman. No guarding, no aggression, just love and curious learning. I also do well around the little humans at my foster home. I do have a Husky heart though, and I’d thrive with a family who loves the outdoors. Walks are my favorite. I’m curious, alert, and love exploring the world one sniff at a time. Adventures, hikes, neighborhood strolls… I’m ready for all of it, right by your side. I can be your one and only adventure buddy or share with a friendly fur sibling. Regardless, I love having a companion to hang out with, and not left alone. This holiday season, I’m wishing for more than toys or treats. I’m wishing for a forever family; one that laughs at my silly expressions, takes me on adventures, and love me as I am. If you’re looking for a sweet soul with an adventurous spirit… I’m ready to come home. Please contact my rescue family PawesomeBaby ✨🐾 —————————————————————————- About Freddy: —————————————————————————- • Age: approx 3-4 yr • Weighs 50 lb • Neutered, up to date on vaccines (Rabies, DHPP, Lepto, Bordetella), dewormed. • He has a cute little overbite. • Potty trained at foster home. • People friendly - He is friendly and playful with humans, big and small. • Dog friendly - He is friendly with playful, friendly dogs. Not tested with small dogs or cats. You will be adopting a dog who got the care listed below - • Spay/neuter • Rabies, DHPP, Lepto, Bordetella vaccines • Negative fecal test or dewormed • Wellness checkup, Heartworm, blood tests • Microchip registration with AKC reunited • Lots of tender loving care at amazing foster home! We are looking for adopters in Washington state or BC Canada. We may consider neighboring states too, if it’s a perfect match for him and you are willing to drive. Please contact to schedule a meetup! His adoption fee is $400. We charge an adoption fee for our precious dogs, to make sure they go to a good home who can afford caring for them as a family member. Dog ownership is a lifetime commitment of over 10-15 yrs. Training: —————- Like a typical husky, he doesn’t enjoy being alone. He gets separation anxiety and can resort to chewing paper, plastic, leash and anything he sees around. But he has been good if he has his humans or fur siblings around. Training Resources: ————————————— Regardless of who you adopt, we recommend training your pup regularly, to build an everlasting bond with your pup and help them continue to be an amazing canine citizen. We can provide a list of reputable trainers who use positive reinforcement methods to help you establish a training protocol with your newly adopted furbaby. —————————————————————————- [IMPORTANT] —————————————————————————- Below listed requirements are for any dogs we adopt out, meant for everyone’s safety. • If you have other dogs, then you must also be knowledgeable and have good hands on experience with running a multi-dog home to be able to adopt a dog from us. What’s expected of the adopter is just keeping basic house rules like (1) keep the dogs apart when feeding, monitor & put away left over food, (2) help them build mutual trust before leaving alone with treats, toys around (3) keep dogs out of kitchen when handling food etc • As with any dog, earn their trust around food handling. This is an essential training for every dog, so they learn to trust their new human. It takes only a couple of practice sessions around meal time with most dogs with no history of food guarding. Teaching to sit, then hand-feeding food & high value treats is one of the best ways to earn trust. • If you have children at home, they should be at least 8+ yrs, and know to safely & respectfully interact with dogs, to be considered for adoption. We think families with younger children will likely not have the time needed to exercise and nourish a new dog. And the time needed to train little kids to safely interact with dogs, read their body language & respect their personal space. Most dogs do not enjoy little ones clinging to them, pulling their fur, crawling or lying on them. We do not want to risk the safety of neither your child nor our dog. Follow @dogmeets_baby trainer on Instagram to learn more on this topic :-) • We discourage the use of choke, pinch, prong collars on our dogs. Training to walk on a well fitted no-pull harness is encouraged. All our dogs come with a “no-pull” harness. If needed, you can use humane collars like regular buckle collars, martingale collars or ‘gentle leader’. For adoption process details, check out PawesomeBaby.com and send us a message here. Thank you for considering to adopt a husky in need. God bless!

Story
Meet Bailey!Bailey is a young, energetic Husky-Shepherd mix (with a bit of mystery sprinkled in) who's ready for an active home that can help her reach her full potential. She's a sweet, people-loving girl with a big personality and an even bigger voice!Personality & TemperamentBailey is true to her Husky roots-curious, independent, and always following her nose. She can be a little aloof at times, but she warms up quickly and loves attention from people. She's playful, bright, and eager for adventure.Training & BehaviorBailey currently has no formal training and will need an adopter committed to helping her learn good manners and structure. She's very strong on leash and requires continued work on recall. With consistency (and maybe some tasty treats), she has great potential.Good With...Dogs: Seems comfortable around other friendly dogs given proper introductionCats/Small Animals: very excitable strong prey drive cannot go in a home with cats!People: Very friendly!Ideal HomeBailey is not a match for first-time dog owners or homes with young children-she'll thrive with someone experienced, patient, and active. Because she has a loud bark/yelp and a healthy set of Husky vocals, she's not suited for apartments or condos. She's looking for a home that can offer space, training, exercise, and lots of love.If you're ready for a fun, spirited companion who will keep life interesting, Bailey may be the adventure buddy you've been waiting for! Story
Meet Stella! Stella is a sweet, affectionate dog who absolutely loves socializing with people. She wants to be part of everything her humans do and will happily show her appreciation with her signature nose-bump of gratitude. She can get very excited when meeting new people & dogs, so slow introductions help her put her best paw forward.Inside the home, Stella is calm, chill, and a wonderful companion. She's happy to snuggle with you on the couch, chew on her toys or treats, or work on a treat puzzle. She's not much of a barker, but she will let you know if an unfamiliar visitor arrives.Stella is a smart girl who already knows sit, lay down, and stay, and she's currently working on improving her recall. She loves car rides, daily walks, and especially long hikes in the woods. Stella has plenty of energy outdoors and would really benefit from a fenced yard where she can run, play, and burn off that enthusiasm. She thrives with daily exercise and mental stimulation.Stella wants to be included in everything, but her excitement and energy can sometimes be a bit much for very small toddlers, so she may do best in a home with older children or adults. She also appears to have a strong prey drive, so a home without cats would be best for her safety and theirs. She is in an awesome foster home awaiting adoption and this what they noticed with Stella girl:-loves socializing with people and dogs. Wants to say hi to everyone.-does not bark much. I think I've only heard her bark twice in the past week.-loves playing tug a war.-loves car rides.-likes routine.-she would benefit from living somewhere with a fenced yard where she can run and burn some of her energy. Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!1. View the animal's profile at adopt.spca.bc.ca 2. Submit an application https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/application-forms/3. Story
**Note: currently, Saenan is in Korea. but he will fly to Vancouver once he is adopted. Background Beautiful Saenan was rescued from a city pound in Sangju, Korea, last winter. Since then, he’s been living safely at our partner boarding house, sharing his days with other rescue dogs. Personality & Socialization Saenan is a happy, bright boy with a big heart. He loves to play with other dogs. Especially those who enjoy running and chasing just like him. Being a Husky, he’s full of energy and joy, and outdoor playtime is truly his favorite part of the day. When it comes to other dogs, Saenan has been very sociable and well-mannered. He spends most of his time with dogs around his size, and he’s always comfortable and loving in their company. He gets along easily and enjoys being part of the group. Saenan is also very affectionate and friendly with people, men, women, and even new faces. He warms up quickly to anyone who shows him kindness and loves being close to his humans. Behaviours Saenan has been an easygoing dog since joining our adoption program. He rides well in the car, does fine during baths and vet visits, and follows his human’s lead nicely. He doesn’t bark excessively and enjoys a calm, happy routine. After his outdoor play sessions, he relaxes quietly and enjoys cuddling or resting beside his friends. Saenan walks well on leash and hasn’t shown destructive behaviors. Health & Diet When rescued, Saenan was treated for heartworm and has made a full recovery. He is now healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. He’s neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and on monthly parasite prevention. He eats dry food twice a day and has shown no allergies. Ideal Home Saenan would do best with someone familiar with the Husky breed. Ideally, a family who understands their energy and exercise needs. He would love a home with another friendly, playful dog around his size to keep him company and share his adventures. An active person or family who enjoys outdoor activities would be a perfect match for him. Saenan is very loyal, smart, and loving, whoever welcomes him home will be very lucky to have such a faithful companion. ---------------------------- For more info about the dog or the adoption agreement, please submit your link. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/saenan/
