Story
My name is Makoto and I am a good boy. I enjoy a good squeaker toy and treats could be a great pass time as well. I am 66 lbs and I am believed to be an Akita mix. I tested good with respectful dogs and cats made me very curious. I would probably chase cats in an attempt to play but I would probably be a little rough. I do not enjoy vet visits but what pet really does? I am a pretty calm dog, I do not tend to jump on people and I do pretty well on a leash. I have done well with people bu I have not had the opportunity to meet kids yet. Am I the right dog for you? You will never know unless you fill out an application and come meet me!If you are interested in adopting this pet please visit www.blackfordcountyanimalshelter.com to complete our online adoption application.

Story
Chance is a 2 year old Akita/mix and 100% good boy! This special boy is absolutely perfect in every way. He is housebroken, great with all dogs, good with cats, and he LOVES children. Chance is playful and energetic, but never "rude. He is also very sweet and affectionate, he loves to sit with you on the couch for movie night! Chance's story is quite heartbreaking. He was found extremely emaciated and on the brink of death! We can not figure out why someone would do this to this dog. Luckily, when Chance came into our care we got him into an experienced foster home. This amazing family has been able to nurse him back to health and allowed him to blossom and show what a perfect dog he is! Chance is fully vetted, microchipped, and ready to make one special family VERY lucky! Chance is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Story
Clark Kent was pulled from a euthanasia list at a shelter outside of Marion Co. While we are not normally able to do this, a lot of stars aligned for this lucky dog. He is approximately 2 years old and an Akita mix. He is 56 lbs. Clark Kent was on the euthanasia list because he was suffering from very high kennel stress, and it was affecting his quality of life. He is currently living at a daycare facility and doing very well. Clark is a very sweet dog and also does well with other dogs. He has a lot of energy, so we are looking for a home where he can be active. We are also looking for a home where owners are either home frequently or where he will NOT go long periods of time in a crate. He would also do best in a home that has a fenced-in yard. Clark is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $200.
