I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi, my name is Kita and I'm from Northern Minnesota. From her foster: Kita is super sweet and loving - she was such a good momma to her puppies! She loves running around and playing with her doggo friends. She is not cat friendly so a no cat home is a must. Sitka loves kids though and has been very gentle with our 20mo old daughter and all her crazy shenanigans, even around her puppies!

Story
History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Greetings! If you are a Greek Mythology fan you may have heard of my namesake; Boreas, the god of the north wind. My name was chosen for me because I was part of the OOTC (Out of the Cold) rescue effort that happens each November to help save dogs like me from spending the frigid winter fending for ourselves. Now that I have explained my name, I want to tell you about me! I am a sweet, big boy who is still learning how big I really am. I am also working on basic manners because no one ever taught me how to be the best boy until I came to rescue. I love to run and play around the yard with the other dogs in my foster home. Chasing each other around the yard is fun. I love to chase the ball if you throw it, but the concept of picking it up and bringing it back is completely lost to me (for now). So many things to learn! It is clear that I have not had a lot of exposure to things like leashes or being in a home. I am working really hard on learning how to be a good boy. My foster momma says it's a good thing I am adorable. I will need a family that can help me continue to learn how to be the best boy. Maybe that's you?

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Kittee! Don't let her stunning Akita looks fool you, Kittee isn't your typical aloof Akita – she's an extra-friendly sweetheart! This magnificent girl is a strong, powerful breed, and while she'd never use her strength against you, she thrives with an understanding owner who can provide confident direction. She's got an independent, stubborn streak, but it's all part of her charm! At heart, Kittee is still a playful puppy. Her favorite game? Fetch with herself! You'll often find her joyfully tossing her toys around. When it's time for bed, Kittee is a clean kennel keeper, though she might put on the breaks a little when first going in. She absolutely adores outdoor adventures, whether it's exploring with you or enjoying some independent sniff time. Kittee is a cuddly girl, especially after a good romp. She treats everyone like her best friend, greeting them with an open heart. Her bouncy playstyle is contagious, especially when she’s chasing tennis balls and rope toys – just don’t expect a perfect retrieve every time! If you're ready for a strong, loving, and slightly goofy companion, Kittee is eager to meet her forever family! Kittee will need to be the only dog in the home or adopted into a home with a submissive, neutered male dog.   Kittee came into rescue with swelling in her leg, and after veterinary evaluation and cytology, she’s been diagnosed with a sarcoma with high suspicion of osteosarcoma. Because of this diagnosis, Kittee will be available as a hospice adoption. Our goal with hospice adoptions is to give animals like Kittee the chance to live in loving family homes, surrounded by care and comfort, for however much time they have left rather than staying in rescue. For full transparency: there is no true cure for osteosarcoma. The typical recommendation is amputation of the affected leg with radiation or chemotherapy. Without treatment, average life expectancy is 4–6 months; with treatment it may be extended up to two years. Because Kittee is a young, large dog, we’ve decided not to put her through the pain and recovery of amputation, but instead focus on her comfort and quality of life. She is currently on pain medication to help keep her comfortable and mobile, and we’ll continue to monitor her needs closely.   Kittee is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate   to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 2, 2025, 4:54 pm

Story
HI - I'M SEBASTIAN! I'm a sweet, gentle, and loving 1-year-old Siberian Husky mix ready to start my life with an awesome person or people. I was recently rescued from an overcrowded kill shelter in California, in the nick of time. I am good with other dogs, love people and would make a wonderful companion for an active person, couple or family who loves to walk, hike or go on road trips! I get along great with everyone - and I weigh only 48 lbs. I'm the perfect size. I really dodged a bullet -- I was made urgent for lack of space at the shelter -- and I would love a chance to be adopted by an amazing person or people. Please email for an application. I'm looking for a foster or forever home, and am currently located in California but can be transported to Minnesota.

I would do best with a playmate in my new home. Good with Cats? Yes, but I do try to play with them sometimes. I back off when they tell me to though. Good with Kids? Yes, but dog-savvy kids preferred. Good with Strangers? Yep! Potty Trained? I'm working on it! Crate Trained? Yes, with some encouragement Shedding? Medium ✨ Meet Nixie — Your New Adventure Buddy! ✨ Nixie is an adorable, fluffy Pomeranian/Husky mix (our best guess!) with a beautiful brown-and-white coat and a whole lot of personality packed into her petite 15–20 lbs. Don’t let her size fool you—this girl is energetic, spirited, and always ready for fun! 🌟 Personality & Play Style Nixie is a sweet, playful pup who loves to chase and wrestle with other friendly dogs. She would thrive in a home with a dog who enjoys active playtime and silly games. She’s been wonderful with the cats in her foster home—mostly ignoring them, but occasionally trying to initiate play. When they decline, she politely backs off. Nixie has also been great with the children in her foster home. She was a bit fearful at first, but after a few days of settling in, she became their loyal little buddy. 🏡 What She Needs Nixie is happiest when she’s busy, both mentally and physically. She’ll need: • An active dog friend or humans who can commit to lots of exercise and enrichment • A securely fenced yard for zoomies and energy-burning outdoor fun • A consistent potty routine—she’s making real progress and does well on a schedule • A cozy kennel—she settles nicely in her crate 🛁 Bonus Features She’s a pro at bath time… but also thinks running through mud puddles is the BEST. Nixie is an affectionate, joyful pup who will reward her future family with endless laughs, love, and adventure. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who’s as cute as she is spirited, Nixie might be your perfect match! Nixie is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations appropriate for her age.
