Story
Hi Everyone! We're needing to rehome our girl Ciya. We're located in Knightdale , NC. We have to rehome her because we just found out our youngest son is severely allergic to her. She's a 10 yr old Akita. I would describe her as very calm and peaceful. She is very sweet and loves kids. She enjoys short walks, rubs, exploring outdoors and just hanging out. She is an indoor lady so I would ask that anyone looking to place her outdoors not respond. Please let me know if you have questions pertaining to rehoming her. Thank you so much for reading this far.

Story
TAFFY is a 4 YO, 65 LB Akita Taffy was found wandering the roads, starving and frightened. Today, she is recovering like a champion! While we don't know what past difficulties happened to Taffy, they clearly haven’t changed her happy and loving nature. As playful as she is beautiful, Taffy shows the profound loyalty Akita's have for their "person" and home. With a big, open smile that breaks out the moment she sees you, this pedigree girl is true to her breed: she is very affectionate, thrives on human companionship and is dedicated to protecting her "pack”.  Due to the nature of her breed, she needs a male counterpart. Akitas tend to do well with opposite sex dogs, but do not do well with same sex dogs. NO CATS! At first, Taffy may be a little shy and cautious, but she quickly gains confidence.  Taffy is very curious!   She loves to give kisses and surprisingly knows some basic commands - we are teaching her more.  We see nothing but bright days ahead for her!  She is leash trained and potty trained.  She needs someone who has both the time and resources to teach her all the things she needs to be her best self!  She is very smart, so she will catch on fast!  She is extremely sweet and doesn't have a mean bone in her body, in fact, she does so well at the vet's office, they brag about how sweet & beautiful she is!   If you'd like to give this first-class girl her second chance, forever home, she will require moderate exercise and plenty of time to play!  She needs a fenced backyard as she loves to run and play ball with her foster fur-siblings!   If you would like to be considered for Taffy, please fill out an adoption application online at www.crisisdogsnc.org. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!  April 27, 2024, 11:36 am

Story
Otra is a gentle giant. Dog-friendly with dogs of all sizes. People-friendly, but may be too much for little kids. Super handsome, Otra, is an Akita mix and is the goofiest most well natured boy you’ll meet! He weighs around 95 pounds and is such a gorgeous fluffy boy.    Otra is great on leash, is crate trained, and is house trained. Otra lovessss other dogs, sometimes too much for their liking. He loves chasing his doggy friends' tails, which can sometimes annoy them. When he gets corrected, he gets so sad. He is essentially a 90lbs puppy. His ideal home would be one where he has a doggy friend to play with and preferably a fenced in yard.    Otra is a very loving boy. He is very playful and is mouthy during his playtime. He will give you his paw to trick you into putting your hand within reach so he can chew on it. It is adorable and not malicious in any way, but his future family must know about this and be okay with it!    Otra has a degenerative eye condition and will continue to lose his vision over time. Right now his vision is pretty good, but sudden movements do spook him, and he can be a little bit head shy. Due to his vision loss and mouthiness, Otra is looking for a home without small children.       (DOB 8/29/2019) As part of Otra’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Otra, you can fill in an online application by going to our website and clicking the" Adopt"  button on his profile at:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1860067##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Kino is not your boxed wine kinda guy. Anyone can be shopping for taco ingredients, bread, orange juice, and coffee when they happen to stumble into the beer and wine aisle of the grocery store, and think 'hey, this looks like a good deal.' It takes someone with an understanding of wine to choose just the right bottle for the occasion. Kino, much like a good vino, is a dog that needs to be appreciated by someone who understands the many layers and complexities of the Husky breed. They are generally very friendly. They love to hold conversations and discuss important topics like 'who's a good boy?' and 'are you a good boy?' They are extremely smart which leads them to do extremely stupid things. 'Hold my chew toy and watch this.' They are very assertive dogs who will NOT be ignored... even when they're pretending you can't see them doing something naughty. They need exercise, physical and mental. A daily walk and something that exercises their mind is key to keeping them from being bored. If you're up for owning a dog who needs a constant reminder that they don't own you, Kino just might be your guy. Kino is good with other dogs who aren't dominant or ill tempered. He gets too excited around kids and lots of commotion and would do best in a mature, adult only home with someone who can maintain his training. Kino received training from Jeff Coltenback and comes with lifetime support from him. Kino (in typical Husky fashion) likes to explore the world and make demands with his mouth. His training focused on teaching him what's appropriate and what isn't. Keeping up with this is important to keep him out of trouble. Kino's absolute favorite thing is being petted. He will insist you keep going when you stop, and resort to lots of licking and kissing until you start petting him again. His second favorite thing is treats. Kino is appx 7-9 years old. He's crate trained, house trained once he gets used to a schedule, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet sweet Tatum, she came from Lenoir County where she was extremely neglected and abused.  When she was found she was suffering from heat stroke. She will need a family with husky experience,  time and patience to help her become the dog she deserves to be. Tatum will do best in a home with no other pets.  Tatum has the added benefit of several weeks of training by Jeff Coltenback and he says shes a sweet girl! Here's what Jeff has to say about her:Tatum has a good obedience foundation. She currently is not in training so she's a little rusty. She is crate trained and appears to be housetrained. She ignores his chickens but she has not been tested with cats. She is dog friendly but prefers male dogs. She is very sweet and affectionate and loves hikes and walks. She LOVES to chew toys and is relatively quiet for a husky (not silent though)! She is good for her ear cleanings and her grooming. He says that when he is around Tatum he feels happier. She has 'a joyful energy' that will brighten your day.   Please consider giving this girl a forever home! She is sure to brighten your day!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 12:15 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Hi, I'm Aria. I was just out living the good life with my sister Tia when I suddenly found myself preparing for more mouths to feed and the forage diet really wasn't my cup of tea.  When i arrived, I was very skittsh and still am at times, but have learned to trust my foster mom most of the time, who assisted me when I gave birth to my 9 beautiful babies on June 20, 2023.  Now that they've all been adopted, it's time for me to find a furever home.   I was underweight when I was picked up, not to mention, raising 9 babies was exhausting. Now I’ve gotten to a healthy weight and am feeling good.  I like to play with my doggie friends here and need to have a home with other easy going dogs and a family that's willing to be patient with me while I settle in.  Highly food motivated. I take medication easily as long as it's in food and it's the time I'm most likely to come up to you.   I like my crate; it makes me feel safe.  As long as I go outside regularly, I won't have accidents inside.  I need a tall, fenced yard with a secure border because I am a husky after all.  My coat is starting to grow back in fuller now.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 12:15 am
