Story
Oso is a 5 year old Alaskan Malamute. He enjoys long walks/runs, breakfast and dinner, and belly rubs. He has been living with Athena (Siberian Husky) for 1 year, and they get along like family! Their owner can no longer care for them due to unstable living conditions. Oso spends most of the day relaxing on the floor, but when it's time for a walk, he has a burst of new energy. It takes some time for him to trust you, but when he does, he will show you all his love. Oso has not had a lot of experience interacting with other dogs besides Athena, so he would need some guidance in that area, and shouldn't be allowed yet off leash around smaller dogs. Both Oso and Athena are amazing emotional companions and will always do something to make you smile or brighten your day. It is preferred that Oso and Athena get adopted together, as I think this will help them in their transition to a new owner.

Ottawa has very soulful eyes. He came to us injured and not putting weight on his back leg. Whatever happened seemed to have healed enough that he is walking normal. Ottawa was dirty but not starved like a lot of dogs we see. He obeyed commands but it took just the right treat (fancy chicken jerky) to get him to accept his reward. Ottawa has nice medium energy for his breed. We would love to see him bathed and fluffy in a loving home. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
