Story
Leia is a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute/Husky. She is approximately 45 pounds and is a sweet and energetic girl. She was adopted from Humane, a shelter in Berks County, PA. She is snuggly, loving, playful, and loves to run and enjoys the outdoors, especially cold weather. She takes a little bit to warm up but deeply loves her people. She also enjoys playing with other dogs but can be overwhelming to other dogs due to her high energy. In a new home she will be looking for someone to take her for many walks, or have land that she can run around as much as her heart desires. She would benefit from someone with patience who is willing to work with her. Good fencing is recommended as she can jump high!

Story
Very dashing and handsome. Good match to an outdoor enthusiast or someone who likes to run and hike. Has a fantastic sense of humor. He makes me laugh all the time. He loves tummy rubs and playing fetch with a ball. Very playful. He loves to go places, and wants to be your best friend. He is highly responsive and wants to learn. Licorice is energetic and loves to run but he’s not hyper. He’s happy to lay around once he gets exercised. Trained as a sled dog in Alaska, he knows voice commands gee and haw for left and right, stop, gentle, and Give commands. He needs leash training and indoor training. He learns quickly and he is eager to please his owner. He has been an outside dog but would be happy to be inside with his humans. He has a strong prey instinct, so I would not recommend small pets, chickens or rabbits in the same household. He needs to be fenced or tied if outside. Full name: Licorice Licky Lickerson, Mr. Lickerson

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Meet Mya! Mya is currently thriving in her foster home and doing absolutely amazing! She is well behaved, sweet, and has adapted beautifully to home life. Mya has a gentle personality and wonderful manners, making her an easy and loving companion. She is now ready to find her forever home and can’t wait to meet the family who will love her for life!                       REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another fur friend    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
To know Jupiter is to be loved by her. This 4-year-old Akita mix has a soul full of devotion. She bonds deeply with her people and looks at you like you hung the moon. Due to a severe personal medical crisis, I can no longer give her the care she deserves. Jupiter is a “Queen Bee” who needs to be the only pet and in an adult-only home. She prefers not to share her space with other animals or small children. She has a tender heart and struggles with separation anxiety when crated or left alone too long. She needs a home where someone is around often (work-from-home or retired) and can provide plenty of opportunities to go outside for potty breaks. She thrives on routine and specific attention. If you are looking for a loyal, loving shadow to be the center of your world, Jupiter is waiting for you. She deserves a soft place to land where she can be the priority. Please contact me to meet this special girl.
