Story
Hi furiends! I`m MacGuffin! I`m a lively boy that is going to need ample daily exercise, both physical and mental! I`m pushy with other dogs so will need slow introductions and supervision. I can be mouthy so may do best in a mature home and training classes sound like a blast! The staff here gave me a bath and I was a proper gentleman (though got a little too excited and mouthy when it was time to be dried off, oops!)

Or, how about these American Bulldogs in cities near Colorado Springs, Colorado

Story
Tucker is a little over 1 year old. His birthday is May 9, 2023. He is purebred. We got him when he was 9 weeks old. He has lived with a 3 year old silver lab without any problems or conflict. He is used to a no-shock bark collar that makes a tone only. He has been under the care of Banfield vet at PetSmart since we got him and is up to date on all shots and licenses. He does respond to training we just have not been able to be as consistent and focused with him as needed. He is kennel trained and sleeps in his kennel all night (8 hours). He needs a loving home with time and experience to train and give him attention. He loves chew toys but we avoid anything with stuffing because he will eat that. Has a harness, leash, and wrinkle cream that will go with him. He likes baths. He is used to teenagers.

Story
Allie has been with us a few days and has settled in very well! She gets along with our two dogs and our 11 month old baby, though like any puppy she needs redirection when she's getting mouthy. She learned stairs after one try and is very brave when it comes to new things! She loves playtime and will rough house with our one dog until they're both exhausted. She prefers baby toys and flip flops to dog toys, but has a decent understanding of the word "no". We're working on potty training and don't have it down yet, but she is pretty good at getting her business done outside when given the opportunity. She loves food! We haven't worked on any tricks yet, but I imagine she would be very treat motivated. She is a very sweet girl and we love to pick her up and snuggle her. She can be very affectionate and is super excited to see us whenever we come into the room. At night we put her in a crate to sleep, and though she cries for a few minutes, she settles down and sleeps through the whole night. She'll only have an accident in the crate if you don't get to her quickly enough in the morning to let her out. Allie has honestly been one of our easiest fosters and it's been so much fun to have her around!   This puppy was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2100508##

HOMEOWNERSHIP REQUIRED!!!  Dude, where's my dog? Oh wait, Dude is right in front of you! Sweet!  This sweet boy is an 8-year-old American Bulldog mix weighing in at 70 pounds of pure love. Seriously, we sometimes wonder if the amount of love he has is bigger than his body can hold! Dude is all about people - he loves them in every shape, size, and age. However, because he's a bit of a potato (in the best way), we recommend a home without small children, as he might accidentally knock them over. Dude is a training graduate, and boy, does he have some impressive skills! He's mastered commands like sit, and he's learned to sit at doorways, when greeting people, and even on walks when stopped, all through hand signals. This smart pup also knows down, stay, heel, come, and release, making him quite the obedient companion.  To keep this big-hearted boy happy and thriving, he'll do best in an active home with people who can exercise him daily, both physically and mentally. He absolutely adores going on walks and does great on a leash, especially when his leader helps him stay true to his training. With proper stimulation, exercise, and a whole lot of love, Dude will shower you with more love, wiggles, and joy than you can imagine! So, if you're interested in meeting Dude, don't hesitate to apply today. He's waiting to fill your life with endless happiness! Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##397211##

These pups are in Colorado Springs, Colorado too!
