Story
This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Jim had a dislocated hip when he entered the shelter. He had an FHO surgery that was unsuccessful so ended up needing an amputation.  Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2353880##

Story
Maggie is about 2 years old and small for a bulldog at about 35 lbs. She gave birth to her 4 puppies on 2-14-25 and is now ready to begin her heartworm treatment. She will be spayed once that is complete. Both the heartworm treatment and the spay will be covered by the rescue. She can be adopted once spayed so is now a foster to adopt.

Story
Hi, I’m Brandon — professional napper, part-time goofball, and full-time tongue model. Yes, my tongue hangs out of my mouth like I just heard the best joke of my life. No, I’m not sticking it out at you on purpose (okay… maybe sometimes). It just likes the breeze. Honestly, it’s part of my charm — people say it’s impossible to look at me without smiling. I agree.I’m an American Bulldog with a big head, a bigger heart, and zero sense of personal space. If you’re sitting down, I’m sitting next to you. If you’re eating something, I’ll politely stare until you consider sharing. I give excellent cuddles, elite-level tail wags, and I’ve been told my snoring sounds like a small engine. You’re welcome.I’m super friendly, low-key, and just want a home where I can be my sweet, slightly drooly self. If you’ve got room on your couch (and maybe a towel for my slobber), I’ve got a lifetime of love, laughter, and lopsided smiles to give.

Story
Meet Rook, a playful puppy who loves to entertain with his goofy antics. He`s a natural comedian, always ready to make you laugh with his funny ways. But don`t be fooled by his lively spirit, Rook is also a shy and timid soul. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he`ll be your loyal companion for life. Rook is best suited for a family with older children who can understand and respect his shy nature. He`s a gentle soul who`s just waiting for the right family to shower him with love and care. Adopt Rook and bring home a bundle of joy and laughter. What I Need In a Home:* Older children recommended*I am a restricted breed in Denver. If you are a Denver resident, you must also purchase a Breed-Restricted Permit for $30.
