Story
If you like leisurely walks and cuddles then I’m the girl for you! I am a very loving girl. I do, sometimes, take a little bit to warm up to new people but it doesn't take long, especially if you have treats! I love my treats. I'd do best in a home as an only dog. I have lived with cats and did very well with them. General Socialization Notes: I am timid and sometimes get scared by noises or other dogs barking at me on walks but all I need is a little reassurance and then I relax. I am well trained, know all my basic cues and have no issues being left in the house by myself, I normally just sleep the entire time. I love attention and snuggling up to people. I also love car rides. I’m a very good girl and am very low maintenance. Does Elphaba like other animals? I’m dog selective and would probably do best in a home as the only dog, sometimes when dogs are barking at me during walks, I get my hackles up and try to pull away because I’m scared. When this happens, I do listen to my human and am able to be redireceted pretty easily. I have lived with cats and done just fine so that is definitely an option. Does Elphaba like children? I do love children but haven’t had much exposure to them, I would be fine in a house with children as long as there is monitoring and I have an adult human to help me adjust. Favorite Toys: I love fetch and playing with lots of toys. I sometimes get the zoomies and just want you to play with me and my toy, when I’m like this, I’m really cute and fun, after playing, I like to nap. Ideal Forever Home: I'd need a family that is willing to work with me and continue to train. I’m looking for a home that can take me for short walks and humans that want to spend time with me. I am a very sweet, low maintenance dog that likes to be around people and I can’t wait to meet my forever family!

Fozzie Bear is one big boy! He loves to ride in the car. He loads right up the minute you open the door, making sure not to be left behind! Story
Meet Cruella. Despite her name, there is nothing cruel about Cruella—this girl absolutely adores people. She’s a total wiggly potato who greets her humans with full-body excitement and a whole lot of love. Cruella is very excitable and enthusiastic, so she’d do best in a home without small children, as she could easily knock them over in her joyful greetings. Cruella loves an active lifestyle and is always up for a hike, an adventure, or some quality playtime… but she’s just as happy to lounge on the couch and soak up attention once her energy is out. She plays well with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship, though she has an assertive, pushy play style—so she’d thrive with a dog who’s confident and comfortable with this type of play. Cruella is a goofy, strong-minded girl with a big personality and even bigger charm. She has a way of keeping everyone laughing with her antics, and it’s no surprise she’s won over the hearts of everyone who’s spent time with her. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and unforgettable companion, Cruella might just be your perfect match    Cruella was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She is available to meet starting 1/31. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2639674##

Story
From past family: Cash is such a sweet boy who loves being outside in the sunshine, chewing bones, and playing fetch. Hewould be the perfect addition to an active family who loves taking walks and being outside! He knows how to sit, lay down, wait patiently until given the “ok” to eat, is crate trained (sleeping 10 hours at night), and has mastered going potty outside. He would do best in a family without very small children, as he doesn’t know his own strength and can knock them down. He has a big heart to share with the perfect family. Cash was adopted as a puppy, but was recently surrendered due to expecting a baby and Cash having shown some herding behaviors. From past foster: Say hello to our superstar foster pup Aster! This little genius already knows 'sit' and is acing his potty training—he's a pro at going outside or using puppy pads when needed. He snoozes like a champ all night in his kennel without a peep. Walking him is a breeze; he's a leash-walking dream! This cuddle bug loves to nap on your lap, though we're gently teaching him that laps aren't always for lounging. He's a quick learner and has adorable puppy manners, especially when other dogs give him a nudge in the right direction. Great with kids and eager to learn, he just wants to be with his people. Unlike most puppies, he's truly unique with his calm and thoughtful demeanor, often sitting back to watch faces and all the happenings around him. But don't be fooled—he gets the zoomies, and it's absolutely adorable to watch! This sweet boy is ready to wiggle his way into your heart and home! This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2522389##
