We adopted Esther from the Humane Society at 3 months old just after she and her brothers and sisters had been weaned off of their mother. We have 2 kids and a 7 year old Pit Bull Mix with whom she gets along well. We were hopeful about adding a second dog to our family but have come to realize that our schedules do not allow us to give a young puppy the training or attention that she needs to thrive. Esther is a sweet dog that needs someone who can be more focused on her development and can be more patient with her than we have been able to be. We are currently using a crate to train her, but during the week she can be in there for more than 8 hours per day (depending upon our evening schedules). We have made some progress with potty training; she does try to hold it as long as she can, but sometimes she just can't. She also submissively pees before taking her outside for a walk.
