Hemi is a 5 year old, 52 pound American Bully mix with a big blocky head and an even bigger heart. This smooshy, happy guy is truly just content to hang out with his people and enjoy the simple things in life. Hemi is house trained when let out regularly. He is also crate trained and settles nicely in a crate, but he’s just as happy sleeping on a dog bed next to yours. He adjusts easily and would do well in a variety of home environments. He has a laid back personality and moderate exercise needs. Hemi enjoys brief walks, time in the yard, playing with toys, and then stretching out on the couch for a nap or to watch TV with you. He absolutely loves to chew, so having durable toys and bones available for him is important. If he gets bored without appropriate chew items, he may decide household items like slippers or clothing look tempting. Keeping him stocked with toys keeps him happy and on his best behavior. Hemi is friendly, outgoing, confident, and very loyal. He enjoys sitting in your lap, following you from room to room, and being near his person as much as possible. He may jump up briefly when first meeting someone because he’s excited, but he settles down quickly. He does well with dogs, cats, strangers, and kids. He has been around children as young as 2.5 and has done well with all ages. He would be fine as an only pet or in a home with other animals.  Hemi is simply a chill, happy boy who loves to snuggle and be part of the family. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is just as content relaxing at home as he is going for a short walk, Hemi may be your perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. Thor is a 2-year-old male American bulldog/Staffordshire mix who is available for adoption at CCHS! Thor becomes attached to his people. He is the biggest baby and loves to chew! Thor was playful and friendly with another dog in the home, but he may be hesitant when it comes to sharing food and toys. Come meet Thor at CCHS! Thor is a STAFF FAVORITE pet! Here's what our Event Coordinator, Elizabeth, has to say about him: "Seeing Thor while he's out walking is one of the best parts of my day right now! He was pretty uninterested the first time we met, but I got in a few pets and the next time he saw me we were best friends. He's always very intent on greeting his human friends when we see him, and when I pet him, he really loves to cuddle in and even climb into my lap. Every time, I think it would be one of the best ways to be greeted when coming home. I hope you give meeting Thor a chance, and then maybe a second. He's such a good boy!"

Meet Alf! This 7-month-old Boxer mix is named after the lovable TV alien, and much like his namesake, he’s figuring out life on a brand-new planet one brave step at a time. He currently weighs 33.5 pounds and is still growing into himself. When Alf first arrived at a local animal shelter, the world felt overwhelming. He pancaked to the floor, unsure of what to expect and how to navigate all the new sights, sounds, and smells.
