Rupert is an adorable 1 year old mixed breed. We are actually awaiting a DNA to.come back to tell.us his breeds. What we can tell you is he has a lot of puppy energy still, and needs an active family. He does seem to get along with other dogs, but we would want a meet and greet first. Rupert is a low riding, fun loving guy! If you want to make Rupert a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org RUPERT'S ADOPTION FEE IS $175The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess. Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up. All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Wishy Washy`s foster mom says ` This is the sweetest baby you`ll ever meet, and she gives hugs!! This gal absolutely LOVES to cuddle and hang out all day. You will become her new best friend immediately, and she won`t want to leave your side. She walks so well on a leash, always right next to you, waiting for your next move. She is house-trained but may need a few extra treats to be encouraged to go to the door. Wishy will lie in your lap all day if you let her and stare at you with her big bug eyes. She thinks she`s a small dog, but she`s about 65 pounds, so she has plenty of love to go around. She also loves to cuddle and is super excited when it`s bedtime, you`ll never be cold! She does so well with my resident dog; they love to play and cuddle together. Wishy could live well with another dog, especially after a slow introduction. She gets super excited to meet new people, she`ll do a butt shake, lean on them for pets, give paw, and LOTS of kisses. Wishy is on the calmer side, but she enjoys a good chew toy and playing as well. She is around 4 years old, so she`s out of that crazy puppy phase, but she still knows how to have fun! SWEET AS PIE! Finn is a super cute and very unique Golden Retriever/American Bulldog. He has an unusual brindle and black coat that we have never seen before. He is a one year old puppy who is full of fun. This sweet boy loves his brother and plays with him all day long. Finn is a gentle boy who enjoys being held and getting cuddles. He is very affectionate and longs for his furever home to have someone to give him the love and attention he deserves. Right now he lives on a farm and is used to being around horses, ducks and chickens. He learned very quickly how to sit and is now learning to walk on a leash. He would do well in a home with other dogs and older children. This little boy is already neutered and has a microchip. His adoption includes a collar and training leash as well as two training classes with our trainer for you to learn good leash skills, how to interact with other dogs and people, and how to be a good leader. Story

Bear is a male American Bulldog. Not sure if he's mixed with any other breed. He was adopted from our local animal shelter (Louisville metro animal services). He was the only dog in the home when we adopted him. Since then we have gained two other dogs. One is male and the other is a female. He seems to tolerate the male dog more so than the female. He walks great on a leash , is house broken. He never intentionally had an accident in the house. Is crate trained. However , he loves to lay in your bed . Our greatest challenge with him has been the trash in and outside. We moved our outside trash cans on the other side of the fence so that fixed that issue. He does get in the house trash cans , kitchen, bathroom, bedroom regularly. We have tried the shock collar with the remote but it takes consistency and unfortunately we haven’t mastered that. I recently bought one that works with out the remote control and that works pretty good but it's limited to a specific area.
