Story
Walter is currently in Texas and available for preadoption ONLY at this time. He will be ready to go right into his forever home on January 26.   Walter is one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart and then never gives it back.   He’s fully house-trained, crate trained, and settles easily into home life. Inside, Walter is calm, respectful of furniture, and knows how to relax after activity. He’s not destructive, doesn’t get into trouble, and genuinely enjoys just being near his people. He’s especially known for always carrying something in his mouth, usually a leash, a toy, or his beloved stuffed animals. If he leaves one outside, he’ll happily go back to grab it when asked. It’s equal parts adorable and impressive.   Walter is affectionate in the best way. He loves cuddling, sticks close like Velcro, and greets his people with the kind of quiet joy that makes long days feel shorter. He makes the cutest little sounds when he’s content, especially when sitting next to you. He’s gentle, sweet, and has never shown any concerning behaviors, including resource guarding or nipping.   He does well with other dogs and enjoys their company, but he’s not over-the-top or pushy. His play style is soft, bouncy, and toy-focused, and he’s just as happy entertaining himself as he is being around dog friends. He walks nicely on leash, may pull a bit but redirects easily, and rides well in the car.   Walter originally came into foster care as a medical dog, but he’s proven to be anything but. He moves comfortably, jumps on and off furniture with ease, and shows no limitations. At night, he runs right into his crate without hesitation, always bringing a stuffed animal along.   If you’re looking for a dog who will make you smile the second you walk in the door, quietly keep you company, and fit seamlessly into everyday life, Walter is that dog. Apply if you’re ready for a truly special companion.  This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. ##2609852##
