Story
Mallory is a little ray of sunshine in a compact, wiggly French Bulldog mix body! This sweet girl is all about love, cuddles, and kisses—lots of kisses. She’s the kind of dog who leans right into you for pets and melts into your lap if you let her. Friendly and full of affection, Mallory has never met a stranger she didn’t want to be best friends with. She’s also dog-social and would be happy to share her home with another canine companion. We think she could do well with a cat too, as long as there are slow, proper introductions. Mallory would be a great match for dog-savvy kids who are ready for a smooch-filled friendship and have the energy to keep up with her playful personality.Mallory came to us as a stray, underweight and a little rough around the edges, but she’s been on the road to recovery and is blossoming into her healthiest, happiest self. She has a ton of energy and will thrive in a home that can offer her playtime, attention, and plenty of snuggles. If you’re looking for a cheerful, cuddly sidekick who’ll bring joy, laughter, and love into your home, Mallory’s your girl! Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process so you`re prepared to adopt & stop by the shelter with the required information to take home this pet.

Story
Meet Virgil! At first sight, you are sure to be smitten with this handsome boy! He is a super cute and beefy bulldog mix with a keen talent for butt wiggling. From Fitchburg, MA, he’s about five-years-old and weighs a healthy 60 pounds. Virgil loves playing! His favorite toy is a Jolly Pets tug ball. He also has a funny way of turning meal time into fun time by batting around his Rolly Kong. He’s very food-motivated so training will be a snap. With his love of treats, the sky’s the limit. (Working on basic skills with your dog is a great way to build a strong bond!) Among his other attributes, Virgil loves the water! He takes every opportunity to swim or play fetch in the lake where he is being fostered. As a dapper dude, The Virg loves being brushed and having his MANicure. He is also a good traveler. A volunteer took him on drives and outings so we know he’s a very pleasant co-pilot. He quietly and curiously looks out of the car windows and after a day of fun he falls asleep on the back seat. Virgil has shown us that time does heal all wounds. A Good Samaritan brought him to a shelter, but he was never claimed, had no ID tag, and no microchip. He clearly didn’t feel loved and was very fearful when he arrived. Luckily, he was given the best prescription to heal his physical health and emotional well-being. A potent medication called TTLC (time and tender loving care) soon took effect. We are so happy Virgil had the resilience to overcome abandonment. At the shelter he gradually settled in and began to trust the staff. It took some time, but he eventually sat on the lap of his initial rescuer. Now in foster, he is learning more about human companionship. If you respect his comfort meter, he’ll let you know when he’s ready for affection. With your gentle patience and more of his “special medicine” you will earn his trust, and doggone-it if you don’t get tingly all over for your effort! Virgil needs an experienced person or family who will help him recognize how special he really is. He should feel extraordinary love and safety so the unhappy twists and turns of his prior life are forgotten. A basic obedience course near the adopter’s home will be included in the adoption. It’s best that he doesn't live with young children. Understanding older kids are a better match. Virgil takes walks alongside other dogs and seems very interested in them, however he will be your only pet. One last thing! Virgil says, Wuff, wuff woof! This means he’s wishing for a fenced yard! If you are interested in finding out more about Virgil, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Virgil is being fostered in Gloucester, MA. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Royal is a sweet senior gentleman looking for a home of his own! He enjoys going for a stroll around the block and taking a nice nap afterwards. He has done well meeting new people once they give him a little time to settle in! He can be nervous with vet handling so a Fear-Free certified clinic would be important for his success! Royal came to us a little bit underweight and he sometimes does not like to share his favorite things. He has done well meeting other low-key dog friends and could likely live with a well-matched friend. He has done well living with kids and he could do well living with kids who respect his boundaries! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
