STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Chowder — Ready for His Fresh Start! Say hello to Chowder! Like his buddy Stew, he came from a home where life was… well, far from what any dog deserves. The conditions were rough, love was limited, and stability was nonexistent. Thankfully, Chowder is now safe, cared for, and finally learning what it feels like to live like a cherished family member. Chowder wasn’t as thin as Stew, but he still came from the same situation — and he’s soaking up every bit of kindness, comfort, and routine like it’s all brand new (because it is). He’s a sweet, gentle boy who loves being with his people, enjoys his toys, and is discovering that soft beds and regular meals are pretty amazing. His personality is blossoming more every day! Chowder would do great with a family who enjoys activity, playtime, and being involved with their dog. He is learning the good life quickly and is so ready for a forever home that will treat him with the love and dignity he always deserved. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger desire to make you smile, Chowder may be your perfect match. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Apply to meet him today — his new beginning starts with you! All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Stew — Your Future King of Cuddles! Hi there! My name is Stew, and I’m a 2-year-old American Bully who has traded a life of squalor for one of soft beds, full bellies, and being treated like the royalty I truly am. When my foster mom first got me, I was very underweight… but don’t worry, I’m filling out beautifully and feeling better every day! Despite my rough start, I am incredibly sweet and just want to be loved. I adore my toys, enjoy being near my people, and would thrive with an active family who likes walks, playtime, and maybe even some adventures. Food was scarce in my past, so mealtime is basically my favorite thing ever—but I don’t resource guard, and I’m learning to take treats gently like a perfect little gentleman. I haven’t lived with other dogs or cats in my foster home, so my compatibility is still unknown, but I’m not overly reactive when I see other dogs out and about, like at the vet. With proper intros, I may do just fine! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, wiggly, toy-loving guy who is ready to be spoiled for the rest of his life, then look no further. Stew is ready for his forever throne. Apply to meet me today — I can’t wait to love you! Story
Meet Bismarck Bismarck is a rambunctious boy that knows how to utilize those puppy dog eyes. He’s very smart and knows quite a few commands. He loves playing tug of war and playing with his humans, but the thing he loves the most is being spoiled. When he came to Mackenzie’s he had a skin infection and some allergies that caused him to lose a lot of hair on his back that hasn’t quite come back. Because of this some staff members got in the habit of tucking him in his doggy bed at night. So, he’s gotten accustomed to being pampered! Because of his rambunctiousness he would do better in a home without young children or cats. He is on medication and a special diet to control his allergies. His skin has improved drastically but unfortunately, he may never regrow all the hair on his back and rump. He would enjoy making a fashion statement with a cute little coat or sweater, especially in the winter months. To meet Bismarck, apply today! D.O.B 9/14/18 Meet-Your-Match Canine-ality color is: Green Go Getter!! For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
You want to talk about an incognito queen? Spoiler alert, that’s me! Named after the beloved and passionate Star Wars character, I would say I hold some of the same qualities….plus a few that are all my own. For instance, I love my people wholeheartedly. Much like the Star Wars character “my place is with my people.” - Padme (Star Wars episode 1, The Phantom Menace) There are very few things that I love more than hanging out with my friends at MAS getting all the butt scratches and sharing my toys. I can be a little bit boisterous with my love, but I do not like to hide my affection. I cannot help that I am enthralled with happiness when my favorite people are around! I also like to think of myself as very involved. I don’t even need a disguise to walk around or go places with you, I am always ready for action! Whether we go for a drive, a beautiful walk, or out in the backyard to play; I’m ready for it! I should mention that I am 80lbs of beautiful, and would hate to knock over a small Padawan accidentally....I would love to play with some older kids though! But I would not be happy to have any feline comrades in my home. When I met a cat at MAS…well let’s just say I was less than impressed. Something about cats just says “Dark Side” to me… Anyway, if you’re looking for a whole lot of love and don’t mind a little enthusiasm with it, submit an adoption application to the website below! Be sure to mention my name, I can’t wait to meet you! DOB: 5/31/2021 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas.
