STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Stew — Professional Cuddler, Snack Enthusiast & Chew Toy Connoisseur Hi friends! I’m Stew, a handsome American Bully with a stocky build, soulful eyes, and a BIG personality. I’m all about full bowls, soft beds, and being someone’s best buddy. Let’s get one thing straight: mealtime is my FAVORITE event of the day. Breakfast? Incredible. Dinner? Elite. Snacks? YES PLEASE. I’m very food-motivated, take treats nicely, and love learning new things when snacks are involved. When I’m not thinking about food, you’ll find me happily gnawing on a chew toy or bone — I lovesssss them. I’ll proudly carry one around like a prized possession and settle in for a good chew session. Toys and bones keep me busy and very content. I’m a total sweetheart who enjoys being near my people and would do great with an active family that enjoys walks, playtime, and adventures. I haven’t officially lived with other dogs or cats yet, but I’m not overly reactive and could do well with proper introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, food-loving cuddle bug who’s always down for snacks, toys, and couch time — I’m your guy. Stew is ready for his forever home Apply to meet me today — I’m saving a spot on the couch just for you. All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! Story
Meet Bismarck Bismarck is a rambunctious boy that knows how to utilize those puppy dog eyes. He’s very smart and knows quite a few commands. He loves playing tug of war and playing with his humans, but the thing he loves the most is being spoiled. When he came to Mackenzie’s he had a skin infection and some allergies that caused him to lose a lot of hair on his back that hasn’t quite come back. Because of this some staff members got in the habit of tucking him in his doggy bed at night. So, he’s gotten accustomed to being pampered! Because of his rambunctiousness he would do better in a home without young children or cats. He is on medication and a special diet to control his allergies. His skin has improved drastically but unfortunately, he may never regrow all the hair on his back and rump. He would enjoy making a fashion statement with a cute little coat or sweater, especially in the winter months. To meet Bismarck, apply today! D.O.B 9/14/18 Meet-Your-Match Canine-ality color is: Green Go Getter!! For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
You want to talk about an incognito queen? Spoiler alert, that’s me! Named after the beloved and passionate Star Wars character, I would say I hold some of the same qualities….plus a few that are all my own. For instance, I love my people wholeheartedly. Much like the Star Wars character “my place is with my people.” - Padme (Star Wars episode 1, The Phantom Menace) There are very few things that I love more than hanging out with my friends at MAS getting all the butt scratches and sharing my toys. I can be a little bit boisterous with my love, but I do not like to hide my affection. I cannot help that I am enthralled with happiness when my favorite people are around! I also like to think of myself as very involved. I don’t even need a disguise to walk around or go places with you, I am always ready for action! Whether we go for a drive, a beautiful walk, or out in the backyard to play; I’m ready for it! I should mention that I am 80lbs of beautiful, and would hate to knock over a small Padawan accidentally....I would love to play with some older kids though! But I would not be happy to have any feline comrades in my home. When I met a cat at MAS…well let’s just say I was less than impressed. Something about cats just says “Dark Side” to me… Anyway, if you’re looking for a whole lot of love and don’t mind a little enthusiasm with it, submit an adoption application to the website below! Be sure to mention my name, I can’t wait to meet you! DOB: 5/31/2021 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Story
Duke will be 6 in January. He's a very cuddly boy who loves being the center of attention. His first 4 years of life were just him and dad checking out all the different places to live. In the last 2 years, his life has changed pretty drastically from being just with dad to a blended home with kids and no more moving. He's great with the kids but doesn't understand why they aren't here to constantly love on him. He's good with other dogs when it's on his terms but better without other dogs. He's very emotional and affectionate unless you are a delivery driver. With the constant rotation of people in the house... kids home then at school or other houses, or us at work, he's become very distressed. We don't want to find him a new home but our landlord and neighbors are complaining regularly and he's not happy with the chaos of our life. He needs a home that is just for him where he can cuddle with his person and know he's still a good, lovable boy.
