AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Trixie Currently Located Southwest of Chicago Trixie is 7 years old, and for every one of those years, she only knew one purpose: being bred, again and again. She never learned what it means to simply be a dog — until now. When GLBR rescued a group of breeding mamas, Trixie was the oldest of the group, and it showed. She carried her past with her — guarded, uncertain, unsure what to do with kindness when it was offered. Trust doesn’t come easily to a dog who’s never had a reason to give it. But slowly, in her foster home, something beautiful has started to happen. Trixie has begun to open up. She’s found a favorite toy. Her foster describes her as sweet and curious — small words that mean everything for a dog who is just now discovering she’s allowed to have a personality. Trixie still has work to do. She needs an adopter who understands that healing isn’t instant — someone patient, someone gentle, someone willing to keep showing up for her the way her foster has. Because she hasn’t been around other dogs much since coming into rescue, we don’t yet know how she’ll do with a canine sibling, so a meet and greet will be required. This is what rescue is. Taking a dog who has only known one hard chapter, and giving her the chance to write a new one. Trixie is 7. She has given enough. Moe is a four year old boxer husky mix. He is an extremely sweet boy. He can be a little skiddish at first but once he warms up he loves people. With that being said, Moe is definitely a dog that does not respond well to punishment. He only responds to postive feedback. He is a medium energy dog when he’s playing outside, but also loves to be inside and cuddle with his human. He is more than willing to lay right next to you on the couch all night. He’ll pretend he’s a lap dog if you let him. He loves to play and cuddle with other dogs and does great with children. He is a sweet and loving boy who deserves more time than we can give him.

At Christmas time, holiday tinsel is one of the best ways to spruce up your home with some cheer and festivity; but wouldn't it be great to have some of that same tinsel cheer for the whole year? I'm pretty sure that's where I got the name, because that's exactly what I do! I think it's pretty safe to say we all love the gifting aspect of the holiday season, and I am no exception. As you can see from the video, I love toys! Personally, my favorite aspect of every day, is quality time spent together. I am full of that "in front of the fireplace" warmth that is the highlight of the season...or really any season. Snuggling in the laps of all my friends, giving kisses, joy, and laughs every day of the year would be a dream come true! While I can appreciate some kitty-time snuggles, I am much more apt to be in my person's lap cuddling, but I am happy to share a home with a feline friend. I would be happiest in a home with older children that can handle my occasional puppy-like playstyle (that...and I can be a little vocal and pushy about my need for attention sometimes). I would love to have a doggy playmate, but I do need proper introductions with dogs, as I am dog selective. Being dog selective means that I have made several canine friends, but much like humans, I don't care to be friends with every dog I meet. Any potential fur siblings will get the chance to meet me for a play date before I go home, to make sure we get along as well as ribbons and bows!
