Story
Meet Diesel, a lovable and sweet Pit Bull who is looking for his forever home. This handsome boy has a stunning white coat with BRINDLE SPOTS!! He has a playful and friendly personality that will melt your heart as this boy LOVES to cuddle and give kisses. He even has been learning how to sit on command. Despite his large size, Diesel is a big softie! He loves nothing more than cuddling up with people to give them lots of love and affection. He's a loyal and devoted companion who just wants to be loved and taken care of. He does get nervous around other animals so he's looking for a home with no other pets so he can relax and love on his new family. Diesel has already been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and is up to date on vaccinations! Adoption Fee: $65.00

Story
Phoenix is a super friendly American Bulldog. Despite his unfortunate past, he is so lovable and more than deserving of a home. Phoenix is 6 years old, weighs 65lbs, has been microchipped, neutered, fully vaccinated, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. He was found chained up in a pile of metal and other items, tangled up with another female dog. They were living in terrible conditions and we are so glad we were able to provide these two lovely pups a second chance at a better life.

These pups are in Joplin, Missouri too!

Story
Culver is a 7 - 9 month old male Boxer mix. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles. He also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Culver does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Story
Chubbs is a 3 - 5 yr old male English Bulldog. He has a medium energy level, so he should fit well into most homes provided he receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by his person for snuggles. He also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Chubbs walks well on a leash with no pulling. He is food motivated, and knows the commands sit and shake. He displays behaviors associated with hypersexuality, being averse to male dogs, but repeatedly attempts to mount female dogs. A meet-and-greet will be required with a potential adopter's dog(s) before the adoption process can be completed. Chubbs is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home.
