Story
Hazel is a good dog and she is great with kids! Our grandkids(age 1-3) climb all over her and she is so patient! Hazel is house and kennel trained. I classified her as a large dog but she is only 65lbs. She a sweet loving dog, it was amazing coming home to see her smile and wiggle her butt in happiness. She would be great dog for either a single person or a family but Hazel needs a home where she is the only pet(dog or cat) in the house. She cuddles and kennels with our smaller dog but does not get along with our other large female. She loves to play and does 360s and often gets the zoomies. She enjoys a walk and has become good at walking on a leash. She sleeps a lot, loves to look out the windows and enjoys a good sun beam. A fenced in backyard would be good for her but she is not an outside dog especially in the cold. She loves to follow you around and supervise whatever you’re doing. She comes with a kennel. She recently(June) had her one year checkup and vaccines.

Hi, I'm Bubba! I'm a sweetheart and was found as a stray and it looks like I got beaten up. The shelter is getting me all healed up.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2648902##

Calling all bulldog lovers….Meet Snickers! This sweet and outgoing 2.5-year-old spayed female American Bulldog is a rescue looking for her forever home. Her previous life wasn’t the happiest, but she’s learning that life can be happy, loving and fun. She’s currently in a loving foster home with two other dogs and is doing fantastic! She’s a lovable companion who does great with dogs in more familiar settings. While she can be a bit reactive with other dogs in public, she just needs a slower introduction and time to adjust. Snickers is potty trained, enjoys car rides, and knows several commands, including sit, down, and shake! She’s also attended two group obedience training classes and did great, making her a quick learner. She does have some stranger danger, so she'll need a patient, understanding owner to help her feel comfortable with new people. Although she’s not a fan of cats, she absolutely LOVES toys and will keep herself entertained. Snickers is still working on leash manners, especially with pulling, but she’s making great progress. Snickers is doing well with crate training and would do great in a crate for short periods of time. If you're looking for a fun, loyal companion who’s ready to keep learning and grow with you, Snickers just might be the perfect fit!
