Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Reese! (FKA Brutus) This delicious peanut butter and chocolate treat has waited far too long for a family. We have come to know him and have found that he is a very sweet, mild-mannered, good ole boy who deserves a loving home with plenty to do. He enjoys walking, running, playing, kissing, and lying around. He loves booty and belly rubs as well as treats and food. He will even “sit” for treats when commanded. Reese has done well with other dogs and loves having playmates. He is doing well with potty training and listening to his person. The reality is, he is a big baby doll who just needs a home and a family who appreciates his independence and energy. He is teachable and there is a big love bug inside that beautiful brindle coat. He is still working on not jumping on people to greet them with excitement and not pulling on his leash. He will get there. Like so many, his story is sad and unfair, but we are believing for a happy ending. He is going to make a perfect house pet one day. We see Reese as a man's man's dog to go on adventures or a great family dog as a sweet, goofy companion. Don’t overlook this handsome fella. Apply for him today! * Note: Reese is part of our Foster to Adopt program. Apply now if you are interested in testing how he would acclimate in your home*    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 4, 2024, 2:51 pm

Story
Jack is a handsome 12-year old male Bulldog who was surrendered by his original owner on August 2, 2023 because he/she was unable to contain him. Jack has a tan-and-white short smooth coat, a tiny docked tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with black shading around his eyes, a black button nose on his cute muzzle, and short floppy ears. His original owner told us that Jack was good with other dogs, but we've learned that he is selective about the dogs he gets along with. Jack does NOT do well with cats and should not be placed in a home with cats or where he would have any contact with them. Jack has had encounters in the past which did not end well for the cat(s). Jack loves his people friends and would love to find a home where he could be an 'only child'. Jack has been kept indoors and is house-trained. This sweet guy defies his chronological age and he obviously believes that 'age is just a number' .. Jack was full of playful energy when HSOV Kennel Tech Rachel Elizabeth accompanied him for updated photos on April 1st 2024. Jack loved attention from Rachel while showing off his personality and physique. Jack weighs 60 lbs and is fairly strong on a leash. Jack has already been neutered, so he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. He could also be fostered with an approved HSOV Adoption/Foster application. Update: Jack was adopted on July 5, 2024 but came back to our shelter in mid-August 2024 since he did not get along with the family's dog. Jack is now a 13-year old 'senior citizen'. Jack would love to find a home with someone special where he could spend his golden years as an 'only child'.

Story
Carrie is an adorable one-year old female American Bulldog mix who was brought to the HSOV on the evening of October 3, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who had picked her up on SR555 in Little Hocking Ohio. Carrie had been in the area for at least a month and was befriended by several compassionate individuals who were very worried about her safety. Those kind ladies banded together to keep her safe (and to make sure she had food/water) .. with the end goal of gaining her trust and letting them rescue her. She was nearly apprehended several times but was a bit too wary/cautious and would quickly go into flight mode. But those ladies were very patient (and determined) to take her into 'custody' but also used good common sense/judgment. Their patience paid off and one of the Good Samaritans was able to persuade this little waif into jumping in her car on October 3rd (with the assistance of her dog who made friends with Carrie and must have signaled that she was safe with them). Contact was made with the Sheriff's Department who provided transport to our shelter where she is now safely with our HSOV Kennel Techs who are continuing to give her the care and love that she deserves. This little dollbaby (Carrie) has a tan short smooth coat with a large white bib on her chest, rather short legs with white paws on her front bowed legs, a long tail, and a beautiful tan/white face with brown 'teddy bear' eyes, a milk chocolate/blue nose, and short semi-erect ears. These photos of Carrie were taken on the afternoon on October 4, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied her for outdoor photos. This little sweetheart has a super-sweet disposition and loves attention more than anything else in the world. The Good Samaritans who had admired Carrie from afar for the past month were eventually able to get close to her (thanks to their own dogs whom Carrie befriended) and were gradually able to pet her. They reported that Carrie absolutely loved other dogs as well as children ... And neighbors who had kept an eye out for sightings of Carrie reported that she appeared to be ok with cats and never made any attempt to chase/harm them. As might be expected, Carrie is an escape artist who can easily find a way to slip away from a fenced-in backyard. Carrie weighs 41 lbs but doesn't have the appearance of a very large dog when you see her in person. She is rather short and full-figured (meant in the most complimentary way since she is simply perfect). She doesn't appear to have had any leash training but with a little encouragement from Emily Beaver, Carrie had the courage to walk outdoors for her photo session. She was reluctant to walk back to the shelter on a leash, but she was very happy to be carried back indoor Emily's arms like a very big baby. If you look closely at several of those pictures, Carrie was giving Emily some terrific 'puppy kisses'. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Carrie will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership.

Story
Meet Lulu   Lulu is 1.5 year old Bulldog and Springer Spaniel mix! This unique combo is what makes her the cutest panda bear on the block   Along with being extremely cute, Lulu truly has the best personality! She loves her people and does great with other dogs. Lulu is affectionate and even good meeting strangers Lulu completed our prison training program and passed with flying colors! Her desire to greet everyone she encounters makes her need a few reminders on occasion, but she is the best girl around!  One important thing about Lulu though, is she does have pretty severe allergies. The poor girl came to us with a really bad yeast infection and irritated skin, but with allergy shots and a prescription diet we’ve managed to get her all cleared up   Lulu’s future family will need to understand the financial commitment required, for her allergies, to keep her healthy but we think it’s 100% worth every penny for this amazing girl!   She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and HW negative.    If you love Lulu as much as we do, please apply at www.prodogsohio.org/adoptables   Her adoption fee is $350  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We appreciate your support, in order to help us continue to rescue dogs! Donations can be made via our PayPal account - info@prodogsohio.org. You must be willing to commute to the location that the pet is being fostered in order to be eligible to adopt. We do not ship our pets. We also require that you personally bring the pet back to us should the adoption not work out.   We do NOT negotiate adoption fees. All money goes to support our rescue operation. We are 100% volunteered based. We require your current dog(s) to be current on vaccines and heartworm prevention.  Apply online at www.prodogsohio.org, under the Adoptables tab. Due to the volume of apps and inquiries, we may not be able to respond to everyone.October 3, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
CloveyFemaleAge: 3 yearsWeight: 48 lbsBreed: American Bulldog Hi! I’m Clovey. I am a cuddly and active girl who gets along with other dogs as long as we are able to meet with a slow introduction. I have not been around cats or kids to know how I would do around them yet. When I am out of my crate I will go to the door and let you know I need to go out. I am still working on my crate training as I don’t like to be separated from my humans.  My favorite snacks are hot dogs! I love those things. I also know the command “sit” and will come to you when you call for me. I enjoy the Bark Box fuzzy toys. I like to run in the backyard and play with my fur sibling and oh boy do I love to cuddle. I really love being around my humans and am a very loving dog when I am the one getting all of the attention. I cannot wait to find my very own active family who will give me all the love and attention I deserve and who will be patient with me as I continue to learn. If you are interested in meeting sassy and cuddly girl, apply to adopt her at: www.causeforcanines.org. Adoption fee: $350. Must be an Ohio resident and 23 or older. Children must be 5 years old or older.  ##2084245##
