When it comes to meeting new people, I can be both friendly and a tad nervous. But with a little patience and some yummy treats (which are my favourite), I quickly warm up. I have boundless energy and absolutely adore playing with toys. I must admit, my leash skills and training need a bit of tender loving care. But don't worry-with an understanding and dedicated owner, I'm eager to learn and become the best boy I can be. Treats are a great motivator for me, so with some positive reinforcement, I'm sure to thrive.While I love spending time with my human companions, I prefer to be the only pet in the house. Other furry friends aren't really my cup of tea. Because of my energetic nature and the training I still need, I'd do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children.So, if you're looking for a loyal, friendly and energetic companion, then look no further-I'm your guy! Meet Ruby, a strong-hearted lady with a remarkable story. She was found alone on the streets while pregnant, and after a challenging start, Ruby has been transferred to our shelter where she can receive the specialized care she truly deserves. Ruby has been diagnosed with Degenerative Valvular Disease, which affects all the valves of her heart. We're currently working with a cardiologist to further understand her condition, but at this time, she doesn't require any medication or activity restrictions. Ruby also suffers from allergies and needs a special diet and treats to keep her skin and ears in the best condition. Ruby may initially be shy when meeting new people, but don’t let her reserved nature fool you! Once she feels safe and comfortable, she blossoms into a bundle of pure love and affection. Her big heart is just waiting to connect with someone who can offer her the patience and understanding she needs to build confidence. Ruby is currently a work in progress and would thrive in a home with an experienced adopter who can continue her leash training. Due to her past experiences, Ruby can be reactive to other dogs, and we're carefully assessing her socialization skills. Her ideal family would be one with teens or adults who can provide a calm, consistent environment and appreciate Ruby’s unique personality. Despite her challenges, Ruby is more than her past – she’s a powerful girl with an enormous capacity for love, just waiting to share her heart with the right family. Ruby needs a calm, understanding home where she can continue her healing journey, build trust, and become the loving companion she was always meant to be. Could you be the one to help her grow into the incredible dog she’s destined to be?
