Nala Jean is a beautiful, special girl who is looking for someone who can accommodate her capabilities - can scale a 6 foot wall with little effort, can jump high enough to look a 6 foot person in the eyes, and can escape a flimsy kennel quicker than you can spell "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Nala is not a dog who wants to lay around the house all day - she wants to get up and go, and loves to ride in the car! Based on the experience of volunteers who are very familiar with her personality, she seems to be comfortable with women from the get-go, but she can be a little leery of men, and needs a slow introduction to them. However, once she gets to know you (male or female), she will shower you with kisses and want to spend all her time near you. Nala is also selective about dogs and would likely be better suited to a home without small children. If you are a person who wants a dog that can share your active lifestyle and can give Nala the guidance and environment she needs, you will gain a devoted companion who will likely never tire out before you do.

Cuddlebug alert Hi everyone, my name is Maxi! I’m a 3.5-year-old, 45-pound American Bulldog/Coonhound mix. I may not be brand new here, but for the very first time, I’m getting to experience what it’s like to live in a real foster home — and oh my gosh, it feels wonderful. While I was staying in boarding, I became a staff favorite. They showered me with love, and I loved them right back. They even threw me my very own birthday party! I’m a polite little guy — I take treats ever so gently, and I know how to sit and give my paw. I’m also crate trained, potty trained, and when my foster mom calls my name, I trot right over to her. I walk nicely on a leash too! I’ve been told I’m dog-friendly, though I can sometimes be a tiny bit picky with intact males. I’m already neutered and microchipped so no one has to worry about those things. My favorite thing in the world right now is cuddling up with my foster mom and curling onto her lap like I’ve been there forever. If I could cuddle 24/7, I absolutely would! I love my tennis ball, I love my bones, and honestly… I just love being loved. When my foster mom came to pick me up, my whole body lit up with excitement. I wasn’t totally sure about the man she brought with her, but after he offered me a treat, gave me calm pets, and didn’t rush me, I decided he was pretty great too. I need a little extra time to warm up to men! The car ride to my foster home made me a bit nervous, but once my foster mom comforted me, I melted right into her arms. My foster mom says she’s going to take me on pup-cup adventures so I can learn to love car rides. I’m also still figuring out mirrors… those funny shiny things really keep me on my toes! I can’t wait to keep learning, exploring, and sharing all the love I’ve been holding in my happy heart. Thank you for getting to know me. ##2417643##

Gonzo is a stunning, exuberant, lively young boxer mix who is ready for a new family to call his own. Unfortunately, he is in this position due to an unforeseen health issue with his previous owner. Gonzo is extremely friendly, loving, sweet, and extroverted. He thrives around people and loves to spend quality time with his human companions. As a 1-year-old dog, he is very energetic and excitable, and has high enthusiasm when he receives attention from people or other dogs. He is still learning how to control his body and reign in his excitement and would benefit from some training as well as lots of exercise! He loves being outside, playing outside, and getting multiple walks a day. In addition, Gonzo is quite strong and still needs quite a bit of leash walk training. However, he is coachable, very attentive, and listens well. He already knows several basic commands and is very responsive to vocal cues. Gonzo loves everyone, including other dogs and is compatible with kids as well. He also previously coexisted very successfully with an adult who had special needs.
