Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!!   Meatball puts the M in front of HUNK! This big ball of bulldog love is ready to plow right into your couch (and your heart). Meatball loves to flop around in the water and bask in the morning sun. He sticks to his routine and struts his stuff on the way out the door with more personality than you’ve seen in most people! Meatball found himself in a new exciting place when his owner needed a dog sitter while going out of town but he loved watching the pigs and splashing in the puddles at the ranch so much he couldn’t be convinced to leave! He loves everybody but does enjoy leaning on and hugging his pals, so he would do best in a home that doesn’t have small children or older family members. Meatball is just an all around happy guy that is searching for his forever. A good balance between quiet couch potato-ing and long walks with a harness and some guidance (or anything to splash around in) is all you need to keep this Meatball happy! *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, let us know and we will send it to you in a different format. Adoption fee $150.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 1, 2024, 8:13 pm

Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi there… I’m Duchess. And I’ve got a story to tell you. One I hope ends with you. You see, not too long ago, I didn’t even have a name. I was just another face in an overcrowded shelter, a place so full that hope had to squeeze in the corners just to breathe. I did my best to be brave, but day after day the noise, the cold floors, and the sadness started to chip away at me. I stopped eating. I stopped wagging. I stopped believing. But then she walked in. A kind lady. She didn’t look past me like the others. She saw how broken I felt and said softly, “You’re coming home with me.” And just like that… the world changed. Oh, what a difference love makes! I remembered how to smile, how to run, how to live. My coat shines now, my tail is always wagging, and my heart? It’s finally full… well, almost. You see, I’ve discovered how much I love people. I want my very own person—my own family—to cuddle with, to protect, to adore. I’m about four or five years old, with a beautiful mix of mystery and charm. I’ve become besties with the tiniest Chihuahua you’ve ever seen (don’t let her size fool you, she’s got sass!). My foster family think I will do well with cats to because of how well and how much I love the Chihuahua. And there’s a big ol’ male dog here too—I let him think he’s in charge, but we both know who runs the show. (Hi, it’s me. Duchess.) I’d love a fenced-in yard to zoom around in and a family who enjoys being active, just like I do. I can sit like a lady and give you my paw—I mean, come on, how do you resist that? I’m crate trained, but honestly, I’m such a good girl I don’t need one. I’ll just curl up by your feet or stretch out like royalty on a comfy bed. Also... I might be the world’s most talented beggar. One tilt of my head, a soft nudge of my paw, and suddenly you’re handing me snacks you swore you wouldn’t share. I can’t help it. It’s the eyes. So here I am—flourished, hopeful, and more than ready. I’ve survived the worst and bloomed into something beautiful. All I need now... is you. Will you be my forever? With all my love and paw-sitivity,Duchess *Guest Posting* If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi… my name is Otto. I’ve been trying to be patient.I sit nicely. I wag my tail when people pass by. I do everything I can to be a good boy. But no one… no one has come for me. I don’t understand why. I’m only 2 years old, just 42 pounds — not too big, not too small. Just right for a car ride buddy, a couch companion, or a trail sidekick. I’m gentle. I’m sweet. I want to love and be loved so badly that sometimes it hurts to wait. I don’t bark much. I don’t make a mess in my kennel — I always wait to go potty outside, because I know that’s the right thing to do. Everyone here says I’m probably housebroken, and I think I am too. I walk nicely on a leash, never dragging or pulling. I just want to go where you go, side by side, heart to heart. I get along with everyone. Other dogs? Love them. Cats? Totally fine. Kids? Oh yes — especially the kind that drop snacks or give belly rubs. I just want to belong somewhere. To someone. Maybe that someone is you? I’m not asking for much — just a safe place to lay my head. A family that wants a dog who’s equally happy joining you on a hike or curling up for a lazy Sunday movie marathon. I’d love a yard to explore, fenced so I can sniff and run without worry. But mostly, I just want to feel chosen. Sometimes I hear the other dogs leave, their names called out, tails wagging as they trot off to a new life. And I stay. I curl up in my little space and try to stay hopeful. I remind myself that maybe tomorrow, someone will come for me. Someone will see what a good dog I am. Someone will see me. If you’re reading this… maybe you’re that someone. Please come. I’ve been waiting with all the love in my heart, just for you. With hope,Otto   *Guest Posting*(Otto will be fixed and is heartworm negative.) If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org.
