Story
Hi there, I’m Gatsby! Some dogs just have that special spark—and I’ve been told I’ve got it. I’m two years old, weigh about 40 pounds, and am the perfect size for cuddles on the couch or adventures outside. I’m the kind of pup who happily makes friends with other dogs, leans in for snuggles, and wins people over with my gentle heart and soulful eyes.I do have something unique about me: I have a condition called megaesophagus. That might sound big and scary, but really it just means I eat sitting upright in my special Bailey Chair so gravity can do the work for me. After a few minutes of relaxing in my chair post-meal, I’m ready to get back to being the playful, affectionate guy I am.I don’t think of it as a limitation—it’s just part of my routine. And honestly, it’s a small trade for all the love, loyalty, and joy I’ll bring into your life.Right now, I’m living in a foster home where I’m loved and cared for while I wait for my forever family. If you think that could be you, please fill out an adoption application on our website and call the Front Office to learn more about how to make me a permanent part of your life.I promise, once you meet me, you’ll see what makes me so special. I’m ready when you are.Requirements: Martingale Collar; Megaesophagus (Eats in a special upright chair)All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Meet Lola – Your One-and-Only! 🐾After two years in the shelter system, this sweet girl is more than ready to find her forever home—and trust us, she’s worth the wait. Lola has had the chance to spend time in a foster home, and we’ve learned that in a calm, stable environment, she truly thrives.Lola is affectionate, loyal, and just the right amount of sassy. She adores pig ears, chew bones, and lounging in her favorite sunny spots. She’s not a fan of crates or being confined to small spaces, but she’s proven to be totally trustworthy when left to free-roam the house. Give her a cozy couch and a good chew, and she’s set for the afternoon. She can be a bit shy with new people—especially strangers in uniforms (maintenance workers, we’re looking at you)—but once she feels safe (a quick walk together helps her bond quickly!), she blossoms into a goofy, loving companion who wants to be wherever you are.Lola would do best as the only pet in the home—she’s not interested in sharing her people, thank you very much. But that just means more love, cuddles, and loyalty for you.If you’re looking for a one-on-one bond with a dog who will be your ride-or-die bestie, Lola’s your girl. 💛 Meet her and see what two years of waiting has built—pure, patient love just waiting to come home.Requirements: Martingale Collar; Children 10+; ShyAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Hi there, I’m Nova — a calm, gentle soul who’s looking for a new place to call home. My family had to move and couldn’t take me along, so now I’m here at H.A.L.O. hoping to find my next forever person.I’m a pretty easygoing girl — I love to relax around the house and hang out near my people. You’ll usually find me lounging by your side, soaking up the quiet moments. Every now and then, I do enjoy a good run around the backyard to stretch my legs and feel the wind in my fur, but overall, I’m more of a chill companion than a wild one.It might take me a little time to open up, but once I do, you’ll see I’m a great listener and a loyal friend. I’m also housebroken and have lovely manners — just a sweet, steady girl who wants to be loved. If you’re looking for a calm and devoted companion to share cozy days and peaceful evenings with, I think we’d make a perfect pair. 💛Requirements: Martingale CollarAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Meet Gremlin – Your Smart, Sassy Sidekick!Gremlin is a 40-pound pocket-sized powerhouse with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s been waiting over a year for her perfect person to come along—and we know you’re out there!Originally transferred to us from another shelter, Gremlin has won the hearts of our shelter staff and volunteers with her brains, charm, and playful energy. She’s a high-spirited pup who will thrive in a structured, consistent home with experienced dog people who understand how to lead with calm confidence. Gremlin is currently living in a foster home, where her foster dad is working with her and learning that she is eager to engage and learn, but she can be mouthy when she's excited—not aggressive, just overly enthusiastic. Because of this, she's looking for a home without young children, and will need multiple meet and greets before heading home to help build a strong foundation of trust and to give her future family the chance to learn how best to support her.As for other pets, Gremlin is currently living alongside other dogs and doing well, so while we feel that cats are a definite no-go for her, a home with other dogs might be just what she needs to continue learning how to be the perfect companion. Why You'll Love Gremlin:🧠 Incredibly smart – She’s sharp, engaged, and loves learning new things.💕 Loyal to the core – Once she bonds with you, she’s yours forever.🎓 Ongoing trainer support – You won’t be navigating alone; our team is here every step of the way.Are you ready to be the hero in Gremlin’s story? She’s ready for her next chapter—and she’s hoping it starts with you.Requirement: Martingale Collar; Multiple Meet and GreetsAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Story
Meet me, your future best friend! I am a sweet, loving girl with a big heart and an even bigger personality. I am smart as can be and I am very obedient. My favorite game is tug-of-war, and if you have some fresh watermelon, you’ll win me over in no time! I absolutely love playing with other dogs, though I can be a bit selective about their energy levels. I adore every Hooman I meet and am always ready to give kisses and tail wags! However, I do have a few quirks. I am not a fan of kitties, so a feline-free home would be best for me. I also get nervous during storms and fireworks, so I’ll need a patient and understanding family to help me feel safe during those scary moments.Because of my high energy, I would do best in a home with children over the age of 8 who can keep up with my enthusiasm and playfulness. Additionally, I have mast cell tumors that require monitoring, but they are kept at bay with a very cheap medication which will make it easy for my new family to provide any necessary medical care. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate pup who will bring joy, laughter, and endless companionship into your life, I might be the perfect match for you! Could you be my forever home?Requirements: Martingale Collar; Medical- Mast Cell Tumors; Children 8+All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Story
I have had a hard journey. I was a very pregnant senior gal transferred from another shelter so that I could spend my pregnancy in a foster home. I was a high risk due to my age, and sadly my pregnancy took a bad turn as I started to loose my pups and became very sick myself. Thankfully I was brought to the ER just in time to save me from sepsis from a retained placenta. Because of my antibiotics, I was unable to feed my two surviving pups so my human foster mom took great care of them and raised them as her own. Just before being ready for adoption a growth popped up on my leg so back to the doctors I went. It was removed and biopsied and came back a low grade mast cell tumor. This is not the best news, but also not the worst, so now to keep me in the best shape, I am on joint support for arthritis and an antihistamine to help block more growths. I know I am a bit of a medical project, but I am loving and kind and am hopeful a family will fall in love with my gentle nature and say let's do this!I am currently living in a foster home, so if you are interested in adopting me please call and speak with our Office Staff - they can help get the process started!Requirements: Martingale Collar; Medical NeedsAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home.
