Little known fact about Reno: He was an Olympic high jumper in a past life.M.O.: Breaking hearts and taking namesBio: Reno came in as a stray from West Des Moines and was never claimed. Reno has a friendly personality and is full of energy. We do believe he has hidden springs on his feet and likes to leap up to say hi, so we are working on “4 on the floor” with him. Ideal match: We are still getting to know Reno, but we do know that he is a friendly boy who loves to be active and would love a home that gives him a lot of exercise and structure. Proper intros to all family members (hooman and other doggos) is always required for all of our dogs to make sure it’s a great match. He has not met any children since he came into our care, we would be happy to host a meet and greet. Meet Boy!Boy is a 6-year-old, 80 pounds handsome pitty that is full grown with a nice big noggin and a huge heart! This sweet soul came from Oklahoma after his person went to heaven, so he knows what it is like to be in a loving home and is hoping to have that again. Boy is an absolute love bug that makes fast friends with everyone he meets, including kids! As long as he gets to love on someone and he gets loved on, he is one happy boy! He does like to let loose with zoomies as well as occasionally running a short sprint along the fence with some of our other dogs, but does prefer to be in a home without them. Unfortunately, Boy had been hit by a car many years prior to coming to AHeinz57, as well as his most recent knee repair on the other leg, so his back legs bother him, making it hard for him to be around other dogs. We are not sure what he thinks of cats, but we would be happy to cat test him if there is a family feline in the home.Boy would love to be adopted by a person or family who works from home or who is a bit of a home body, as he does have separation anxiety and is not a fan of being left alone. Because of this, an apartment or townhome would not be the best fit. When he is around his people, he likes to with a bone, on a big comfy bed and peer out of windows waiting for some company or just simply to people watch. Meet Hazelnut! Hazelnut is a 3-year-old Pit mix that was found as a stray, but had not been claimed. Since then, she has been patiently waiting for her turn to find the right family to love!Hazelnut is a funny, silly, lovebug who is always up for some fun! She is always up for making new human friends, so a meet with any resident family members would be great! Older children may be where she feels most comfortable, as younger kids may still be a little scary, and older kids may understand her energy better. Although she is friendly in nature, she does not get along well with other dogs, and would need to be the only dog in a home. Rigley is a handsome pitbull mix who came to us as a stray. When he first arrived, he was understandably scared and unsure of his new surroundings. With time and patience, Rigley has become a sweet and affectionate boy. He adores staff and volunteers, happily giving hugs and soaking up all the cuddles he can get.Rigley is a tidy guy, and keeps his kennel clean, which is always a plus! We’re not certain how he feels about other dogs and assume he may be a bit selective. Because of this, a meet-and-greet will be required for all family members, both human and furry, to ensure a good fit. Rigley may have a touch of separation anxiety and can be protective of his space, so he’ll need a family willing to give him understanding and consistency.Rigley is on-site at our rescue. Meet Dumplin`! He came to us as a stray and has not been claimed so he`s ready to find a new home. We have him at about 2 years old but that could change if our vet believes his age is different. He will be fully vetted and neutered before he goes to his new home. We are still learning about him so at this time we will require a fenced yard but that is subject to change as we get to know him a little better.
