Story
Hello everyone my name is Roscoe and I am about 9 years old. I was adopted from Al-Van 5 years ago, and unfortunately had to come back due to no fault of my own. I am now looking for a new family to call my own! I would do well in a home with kids that are 10 and up. I know my basic commands, need a little more work with the leash thing...... I also found out that I am great at climbing fences so a high fenced in back yard would work best. I love to cuddle, play with toys, go for walks and rides in the car. I would also be the kind of guy that would love to have a Netflix and chill kind of night. I would prefer to be the only pet in the home. If you are willing to give me a shot and become a part of your family please stop in and meet me. You can also fill out an application online at www.al-van.org!

Story
Hello, Ellie Mea has been a big part of our family for the last five years. We rescued her as a puppy in 2018 and have another dog who she is very close to. The two have been inseparable however we are saddened to have to find new homes for both due relocation. She does best with a playmate. She is extremely playful with other dogs and loves the game of chase. She is fast and agile and rarely can be caught. Not a good dog for cats however. I think she would catch them! She is incredibly smart. She watches you and can figure things out like opening doors so make sure to lock them. She is silly and cute and lovable. When she sleeps she likes to get under a blanket. She would do best in a home with a fenced in backyard as she needs to run and play often. She also loves dog parks. Looking for someone to love and care for her as much as I have.

Story
Nyx (left) and Betty (right) are sisters. They do not need to be adopted together as they spend time on their own but they have slept together since birth and are an amazing pair. Betty tends to jump our neighbors short fence so she would need tall fences or be watched while outside. She is the sweetest dog around and very playful. Nyx has the sweetest look that gives everyone and is the best cuddler. Both listen amazingly well and are house trained. The reason we are not keeping them is because we rent and already have mom and dad at home. On top of that, too many dogs have triggered my daughters allergies so we can only handle 2. We are looking for amazingly loving homes for these sisters either together or apart.

Story
Nova means new and this amazing dog is ready for her new forever home. Could it be you? Nova just like her namesake is a bright star with powerful energy. Her loving spirit will melt your heart. She just wants to be with her people. She is both a snuggle bug and a playful, funny girl. She knows basic commands and has been a great addition to her foster family. She gets along with her foster brother, they play and share the house space well, but would need to be cat tested. She loves walks, toys (the tough kind), and time with her humans. She is treat-motivated and has continued crate training and leash work in her foster home, of which she has made enormous progress in a short time. She would need a home committed to continuing this work as well as addressing her allergy issues through diet and over-the-counter allergy medication. Her foster parents are Emily Z.    The adoption fee for Nova is $250.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Nova. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption form All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day. It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. Story
If you're looking for a human toddler in pittie form, Jenny's your girl. Jenny loves suckling her blankies, wearing jammies, and playing with toys. When she wears herself out, she loves cuddling next to you on the couch or following the sunspot on the floor. Jenny sometimes acts demanding like a human toddler, but like a human toddler, she is learning how to use other tools to advocate for herself, like a quiet groan to ask for something instead of a loud bark. Jenny is good with cats, and she would love a playful and laid-back dog companion (a meet-and-greet is required). She has a sweet friendship with another available KAR dog, Gretel, and they love to romp and have occasional sleepovers. Jenny is good with kids. Because of her rambunctious play style and the fact that she's a bowling ball with legs, older kids are the best fit for her. She would love a fenced-in yard. Her foster parents are Kathi V.    The adoption fee for Jenny is $300.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Jenny. Story
Gretel is the silliest being I’ve ever met. She is so full of life and energy, it’s motivating. We know she didn’t have a great past, and there’s really point dwelling on it because that life is in the rear view mirror!!I would love to see her have a dog buddy to wrestle and run with in her happy forever life. Gretel can come on a bit strong, so it can’t be just any dog. She needs a dog who has patience for a puppy pest! Gretel is mostly house-trained but still has an occasional accident from previously living outside. It took a little bit of time to get her to understand she ONLY potties outside, but she’s 90% there! She’s very treat motivated and loves to learn. It has been a very fun and rewarding experience working with her this far! I can’t say enough good things about this pup. She’s incredible! Her foster parents are Michelle Y.    The adoption fee for Gretel is $300.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Gretel. Story
Meet Bella!Bella came to KAR through Kalamazoo County Animal Service as a stray. Bella was skinny after having puppies and was not doing well in the kennel. Alongside another rescue, KAR worked to get Bella into a foster home where she was able to receive some nutrition after being a dynamite mom to her pups. Bella has been around a family with kids, cats and other dogs. She would do perfectly well in a home with kids and cats. She would do better with a male dog than a female dog. does this cute lip sucking thing (like in the first picture) when she is happy or excited! Things Bella is great at:1. Loving! She was a great mom and wants to be around her people. Driving, playing, sleeping, whatever it is, Bella wants to be there with you. 2. Playing! Sticks are her favorite, she loves to collect these on walks. 3. Kids! This girl was meant for a family with kids or who have frequent kid visitors. She is still working on knowing her strength but loves to follow kids around and lick them. 4. Bella is very treat driven and is very easily trainable. Bella is working on:1. Walking on a leash without pulling. She still has some puppy energy and gets so excited to go outside. 2. Taking treats gently and releasing toys when playing. She probably never got a lot of treats or food to herself so she likes to play and is eager for a treat. Her foster parents are Tracy A.    The adoption fee for Bella is $300.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Bella.
