Story
Hello, Ellie Mea has been a big part of our family for the last five years. We rescued her as a puppy in 2018 and have another dog who she is very close to. The two have been inseparable however we are saddened to have to find new homes for both due relocation. She does best with a playmate. She is extremely playful with other dogs and loves the game of chase. She is fast and agile and rarely can be caught. Not a good dog for cats however. I think she would catch them! She is incredibly smart. She watches you and can figure things out like opening doors so make sure to lock them. She is silly and cute and lovable. When she sleeps she likes to get under a blanket. She would do best in a home with a fenced in backyard as she needs to run and play often. She also loves dog parks. Looking for someone to love and care for her as much as I have.

Story
Nova means new and this amazing dog is ready for her new forever home. Could it be you? Nova just like her namesake is a bright star with powerful energy. Her loving spirit will melt your heart. She just wants to be with her people. She is both a snuggle bug and a playful, funny girl. She knows basic commands and has been a great addition to her foster family. She gets along with her foster brother, they play and share the house space well, but would need to be cat tested. She loves walks, toys (the tough kind), and time with her humans. She is treat-motivated and has continued crate training and leash work in her foster home, of which she has made enormous progress in a short time. She would need a home committed to continuing this work as well as addressing her allergy issues through diet and over-the-counter allergy medication. Her foster parents are Emily Z.    The adoption fee for Nova is $250.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Nova. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption form All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Story
Jenny came to KAR as a stray. She is a sweet girl with lots of youthful energy. Jenny loves going for walks and is greatly improving her leash manners. She enjoys playing and cuddling and is extremely food-motivated. For her safety, she needs a fenced-in yard. Jenny does well with older kids and her foster sister (a Great Pyrenees mix), but she is very excitable when meeting new dogs, so she may be dog-selective. A meet-and-greet and slow intros are necessary. Jenny appears to be cat-friendly. Jenny's main quirk is barking, which she is working on and improving. Jenny is looking for a home that can offer consistency to help her feel secure, gentleness to match her sensitivity, and a commitment to her being a lifelong family member. Does this sound like you? Please apply, and let’s figure out if you could be a potential fit. Her foster parents are Kathi V.    The adoption fee for Jenny is $300.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Jenny. Story
Gretel is the silliest being I’ve ever met. She is so full of life and energy, it’s motivating. We know she didn’t have a great past, and there’s really point dwelling on it because that life is in the rear view mirror!!I would love to see her have a dog buddy to wrestle and run with in her happy forever life. Gretel can come on a bit strong, so it can’t be just any dog. She needs a dog who has patience for a puppy pest! Gretel is mostly house-trained but still has an occasional accident from previously living outside. It took a little bit of time to get her to understand she ONLY potties outside, but she’s 90% there! She’s very treat motivated and loves to learn. It has been a very fun and rewarding experience working with her this far! I can’t say enough good things about this pup. She’s incredible! Her foster parents are Michelle Y.    The adoption fee for Gretel is $300.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Gretel. Meet Stephanie, she is one of the sweetest girl you will meet. Stephanie loves to play outside, belly rubs and to curl up on the couch and fall asleep while you watch tv. Stephanie does great with cats but might do best in a home without other dogs or a very slow introduction with another dog. She is great with younger kids but is still learning not to jump. Has no accidents inside and is crate trained. Her foster parents are Heather D.    The adoption fee for Stephanie is $275.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Stephanie .
