"MAY I come home with you? Pretty please with lots of dog treats on top?" - May Isn't she just so polite? May is also super sweet, outgoing, friendly and smiley, and she'll greet you with instant kisses, hugs and tail wags. This 14-month-old came to us with her sister, April, and her twin offspring, Junie (they seriously just copy and pasted). They are all lovely shelter seals looking for positions as beloved house hippos! May is working on learning basic commands that she was sadly never taught, and she may want to jump up for a hug, but it's just to say hi. This smarty pants is potty trained, though! May is good with other dogs, and asks for a meet and greet with any potential dog siblings. We don't think she's been around cats much, but meeting some here, she seemed shy but curious, and was well-behaved even when one swatted at her! May will soon be spayed, and is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Apply to adopt your new best friend at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt or at the sanctuary any time we're open. Story
April can take your winter blues and turn them into sunshiney happiness! Her sweet pibble smile is enough to melt even the coldest of hearts. This 14-month-old gal may be a tad shy at first, but once she gets to know you, it's all fun and playtime. She came to us with her sister, May, and May's twin offspring, Junie (they seriously just copy and pasted). They are all lovely shelter seals looking for positions as beloved house hippos! Story
"Hiiiii, I'm Junie! I just a baby! I'm 'spose to tell you all 'bout myself so I can get 'dopted, but I just played all day *yawn* so I'm really *yaaaaaawn* sleepy. So, byeeee....*snore*" Human edit: Junie is a bundle of joy at 10 weeks old. She's a pittie mix gal, and will likely be medium-sized. Please remember, she really is just a baby, so Junie will need to be potty trained and regular trained so she can be the best pup she can be. She loves everyone and everything, including playing and napping. Junie came to us with her twin mama, May, and her aunt April, who are also looking for homes. Junie is started on vaccines, and will be vaccinated for rabies and spayed when old enough. But, she can go home in the meantime. Story
Meet Cooper (formerly Hugo) 🐾 A survivor. A lover. A second-chance kind of dog. Before he was Cooper, he was known as HUGO, an urgent dog from ACCT Philly, out of time and at risk due to behavioral concerns brought on by unimaginable trauma. Cooper’s story began in heartbreak. He was found discarded in an alley in 14-degree weather, emaciated, frostbitten, and unable to stand. He was literally dragging himself through ice and wind, trying to survive. It was obvious he was mauled by another dog. His body temperature was so low it didn’t register. His ears, nose, and tail were damaged by frostbite. A deep, gaping wound tore into his front leg. He was starving, weak, and left behind as if his life didn’t matter. But Cooper never gave up. Despite everything humans had done to him or failed to do for him, he greeted his rescuers with kisses. Even while fighting for his life, he leaned into gentle hands, soaking up affection like it was something he had been missing forever. The Humane Center of Tioga County pulled Cooper on February 19, 2025, saving his life just in time. Since then, he has spent nearly a year in a loving foster home learning what safety feels like. And who Cooper truly is… is remarkable. 💙 About Cooper • Adult mixed-breed male • House-trained and well-mannered • Walks nicely on leash • Loves cuddling and prefers couch time over chaos • Affectionate, social, and deeply bonded to his people • A certified “little spoon” enthusiast Cooper adores people. He seeks closeness, leans in for pets, and melts into cuddles. He is the kind of dog who wants to be with you, not just near you. 🐕 With Other Dogs Cooper is dog-selective, which is completely understandable given his past and the stress he endured in the shelter. He does best with calm, respectful dogs and requires slow, thoughtful introductions. He communicates clearly and appropriately when overwhelmed and does not escalate when given space. 🏡 Ideal Home Cooper would thrive in: • A calm, patient household • A home that understands trauma-informed care • Someone who believes in building trust, not rushing it He doesn’t need perfection, he needs consistency, kindness, and reassurance that he will never be abandoned again. ✨ Why Cooper Is Special This is a dog who survived starvation, freezing temperatures, untreated wounds, illness, and neglect and still chose love. He didn’t harden. He didn’t shut down. He didn’t give up on people. Instead, Cooper shows us daily what resilience looks like. Now, after everything he’s endured, Cooper is finally ready for the one thing he has always deserved: a forever home where he is safe, cherished, and never disposable again. If you’re looking for a dog who will love you with his whole heart because he knows what it means to lose everything! Cooper is waiting. 💙🐾 Because second chances save lives… and Cooper is living proof.

Story
Joy came from ACCT Philly Deathrow in Nov 2024, she was found stray on the streets! When she came into our care she had a horrible battle with pneumonia! We got her healthy and she was adopted! A week later we were contacted by her owners who stated Joy was having neurological episodes and they refused to seek medical care! We immediately got Joy back and begin medical care! Joy would have “episodes” where she would lose the use of her hind legs! We did bloodwork, X-rays, numerous tests all of which came back normal! She has occasional episodes, She is currently being treated for Focal Seizures. She takes levetiracetam twice daily and it seems to be maintaining things. We would love to find Joy her forever home!! This girl is as sweet as can be and deserves a family to love her!! She is around 4-5 years old!! House trained! Spayed! Up to date on vaccines & microchipped!! When joy originally came to us she had mild food guarding but has done really well with that!! We do recommand a home with older children. Joy loves everyone she meets, she is always a happy go lucky girl. Joy is great with other dogs & cats. She is a snuggle bug and loves attention!! Interested in Meeting Joy? Complete our adoption application and we will contact you!
